Hollywood Gun Shop Super Turret on Ebay

There's no way I would pay that much for that press! It's not even the Senior Turret press which is the better buy but its used and looks like it needs a complete overhaul! Save your money anyway as I think Hollywood isn't even open unless Joe finally retired and sold the shop.

The seller is gonna laugh all the way to the bank!

Yes I can see that price on the Hollywood Super Turret, not many of them made, and they are collector items.

There are many turret press's made, but not like the Hollywood's. I have the Universal and it operates differently than my other press's on the bench.
The Hollywood's are massive pieces of machinery setting on the reloading bench 12 stations four different shell holders and four primer posts. You can load every from shotgun to 50 BMG all on one press.

Stuff like this is interesting to watch. It is easy to say that the selling price is a joke (and it really is:) but the 36 bids it has at the time I am writing this prove that old adage that things are worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay.

And yet some people won't even bat a eye at spending that much on a new rifle, pistol, or shotgun.

$2600.00 will buy much ammo so why reload with that?

Nobody is paying $2,600 to load ammo on it. It's a collectors item. Some people like owning rare things. If they have the extra money then by all means I have no issue with them spending it how they want.

We all have our little quirky stuff we "waste" money on (at least in the eyes of others).

mgmorden, you have the best answer so far. That is quite a press and they are not common. And nope, I don't have the money and if I did, I wouldn't go that route anyhow. And for those that do, they are 36 bids already, time to get in the game.

You could possibly be very wrong. Most of the Hollywood collectors use their presses. Some of them have extremely nice collections. I will not pay that type of money for a press that isn't better than a modern one. Deepening on who wins it there is a very good chance it will be used and not just become an expensive boat anchor.

Having never used and seldom seen a Hollywood, I ask how is the effort on the handle to resize a case? It looks like it has simple toggle linkage, not the compound leverage originated at RCBS. In which case I would expect high effort on the handle, even though the press is so massive.

The little shellholder turret is just NEAT, though.

It's not the effort or the linkage but rather how the press is set up. As I've said before it has 12 stations and some stations are threaded for the large 1 1/2 inch dies. There are four shell holders on a turret and four primer posts on a turret. All that will give the reloader any combination of die sets they want at any one time.

The original Universal press was cast iron and had only three stations but the press height give the reloader a operator station that's easier than many of the bench mounted presses of today.

And if you do not know why there is a four position turret for primer posts----you haven't been reloading that long!

Wow, expensive but it would look good sitting on the bench! I think all the super turrets have aluminum bases, the universal turrets were made with iron and aluminum bases and the senior turrets were iron and aluminum as well. I do not have a super turret but use the other Hollywood turrets that I do have (they may be collected but they pay their dues). They are a real pleasure to load on, although the universal turrets load on the upstroke and the senior turrets load on the down stroke of the handle. Takes a little getting used to.

Thank you Ebay for setting a new standard for pricing Hollywood presses.

Now I know my Universal is worth at least 3 times more now!

There's always some one wanting a Hollywood press.
