Holster fit question

I recently bought a hybrid leather-kydex holster for a P365x with romeozero, and it looks like sig moved the optic forward to allow rear H3 irons since the company made the mold for this combo, so the trigger guard doesn't fully engage with its retainer and the whole gun sticks out about a quarter inch. is it reasonable to ask for them to re-make the kydex, or is it better fixed with a dremel?

So the optic is too far forward for the gun to seat properly in the holster? Meaning of course that any “optic cut” wasn’t cut to the right depth?

I would definitely talk to the holster company about fixing it. Alternatively you could use a dremel. That’s basically what they’re going to do - remove material where the optic is contacting so that the gun seats correctly (with a fully covered trigger guard) but unless you’re set up to make holsters with all of the deburring and sanding stuff, it’s going to be easier to have them do it.

I’d also recommend rethinking your use of a hybrid holster in favor of a fully kydex model, but that’s just me.

Interesting, hybrid was recommended to me for comfort reasons, but curious what your opinion is?

Hybrids can be comfortable, but as they are used the backing gets softer and that has a tendency to result in the backing above the mouth of the holster rolling outward and at least partially (if not fully) blocking the mouth of the holster after the gun is drawn. That impedes your ability to reholster the gun.

Now that isn’t the end of the world, but the real problem comes when people try to reholster, find the holster is partially blocked, and then use the muzzle of their gun to clear the mouth of the holster. A lot of times they end up unintentionally pointing the gun inwards and muzzling their own leg and midsection as they reholster the gun.

There ARE ways to reholster a gun on a collapsing holster that don’t involve pointing the gun at yourself, even if you’re doing it one handed, but every time I’m in a class with someone wearing a hybrid holster they end up muzzling themselves. People always say “oh, I’d never be dumb enough to point a gun at myself!” And then that’s exactly what happens not 5 minutes later.

I would recommend using a fully kydex holster that is designed to remain completely open even with the gun removed. That way you never find yourself fighting the holster to get your gun back in.

I wouldn't try to fix it myself. If it doesn't fit your gun either send it back and have them fix it, or choose a different holster that does fit.

Regarding hybrid holsters, Greg Ellifritz has a series of articles on why he doesn't care for hybrid holsters. Here is one.

There's also the possibility it was just molded incorrectly--these things happen.

Moving the sight forward on the slide strikes a touch odd. Throwing calipers on my 365X, the rear sight is 2.4mm from the top rear edge of the slide, and the RXZ base is exactly 40mm long.

If you feel competent with your Dremel, you are like to save a couple weeks' span sending the holster back. And, if the holster matches their mould form, they may not agree the fit is bad (which is also going to delay things).

Sometimes identifying the brand/maker matters. "Hybrid" covers a lot of ground in holsters. Technically my Crossbreed SuperTuck is a hybrid in that the body pad is leather. It's fit has been perfect, too. Ditto my all-polymer DeSantis IWB. Naturally, my bespoke leather holster fits perfectly in 100% saddle leather--but, I paid extra for that, too.

Sometimes band names matter.
Your mileage may vary.

this is a hidden hybrid holster IWB small of back, if it helps.
That was also an assumption on my part, it looks like the original romeozero 365 x used the optic as the rear sight, but later they placed a dovetail tritium rear directly behind, it looks like they had to move the optic forward, but perhaps they did not

looks like it was a modification, but again, not sure if they "shifted" or "added"

Not a fan of that style holster. Recommend you get a new holster, made specifically to fit this.

You're not intending to wear it SOB, I hope.
