I’m starting to feel confident enough with my new Glock 36 to start looking for a new holster. I don’t want to end up with a box of holsters that don’t work. The problem is that when you look at a picture of a holster on line it’s never got the right gun in it. Just go to desantis holsters and look up holsters for a G36. They have a bunch of holsters, but the photo always has another gun in it. How can you tell how the gun will set in the holster? The biggest problem that I have with most IWB holsters is that they ride too high. If the gun is too high it will print too much. So to the big question is: Does anyone have a photo of your G36 riding in its holster, IWB or otherwise? If you do please post it. It would be a big help and most likely save me a lot of money.
Thanks for your help
Steve

I have a Glock 23 and 27. I, like you, didn't know. I went through a few holsters: Galco Summer Comfort which was too high, Galco Stow N Go which didn't have an adjustable cant, Blackhawk Serpa that is good only with very baggy clothing (but great for when driving for easy access). I was drawn to the IWB by Kholster, Crossbreed and Another brand that escapes me, this minute. I then saw the Shielded Holster which came in different colors (natural, black, dark brown). He also put belt loops and edging at no additional charge for a total of $50 shipped. Now I have two holsters by him for guns and one for magazines. Best money every spent. If you want pictures let me know.

IWB is the most versatile for me. I use a Shielded Holster by kwart. The cant angles and height can be adjusted easily.

Here ya go man. I carry a G36 IWB. Here's pics of the gun out of the holster, in the holster and on my side. The Crossbreed SuperTuck holster lets you adjust the ride hight and the cant of the gun.

Thanks for the help guys
BlackSky - In the pictures it looks like the holster can be adjusted quite a bit lower. Is that right?
Does it carry well or does it feel bulky?

The way I have it set up you could probably drop it another 1/2 to 3/4 inch down. I tried it at the lowest setting but found it put too much of the gun under my belt. It made it difficult to get a good grip on the handle when drawing. I raised it up one position to get that little gap between the grip of the gun and the top of my belt. With it like that I can get a good grip and draw real well. It carries like a dream in that holster. 30 minutes and you nearly forget it's there.

The FIST holster is a great example of a holster that sits way too high for me. It would be great if they showed a photo with each model of gun that it fits. But I don’t need a picture to tell me that one is not going to work. It looks like a nice holster that goes on and off very easy. It also looks like it has enough forward cant for me. But again, way way too high.

If it sits much lower than post #3, you won't be able to get a good grip on it when you draw. You want it to be concealed for sure. If you're a not so chunky guy like some of us, you might have to shift to 3:30 or 4:00 carry.

Speaking of post #3, if you've never worn a crossbreed or comp-tac holster...I'll admit that at first that holster looked way too big and uncomfortable. Trust us, it isn't. It spreads the weight out over your belt. Being able to adjust the height and cant is wonderful because we all have different carry positions and body types.

Trust me, I have a drawer full of mostly unused holsters. After I bought a crossbreed-ish holster, I stopped buying any more. :)

I still use a High noon Split decision from time to time. Cheap, but very effective.

It was the first holster I bought. That one and the last holster (crossbreed-ish) are the only two I ever use. Maybe a blackhawk cqc serpa for the range, but that's it.

Good luck!

You must be able to grab and deploy your pistol quickly from concealment. That is the whole point of concealed carry. If the butt of the pistol is buried too low inside your pants, you won't be able to get your hand on it very easily, IMO.

The FIST (I have a few different configurations) is one I use daily. It doesn't absorb water, doesn't squeak when you bend over, and is thinner and more comfortable that leather, for me anyway.

If you are having problems finding a good solution to your G36 carry, maybe finding another handgun to carry would be more suitable for your needs.

I agree fast access is important. Training and practice is most important. The right holster allows virtually ANY handgun to be carry except a Desert Eagle.

The Glocks are easily concealable. This is ESPECIALLY true of the single stack 36. It is the EASIEST Glock to conceal. No new gun is Needed; however, I have a Glock 23/27 Combination. I would only get a different gun if reliability is the issue. An unreliable gun is no better than carrying a few rocks in your pocket - if you carry rocks (like I do in Thieve Friendly States like IL, NY, MD, DC), carry shale stones for throwing and pumice to act as a pommel and aim for the face (zygomatic arch, orbits, nasal bones, temple), clavicles, and back of the head. I hate Thieve friendly states!!!!

Is there any chance you guys actually have a photo of a G36 in the holster of your particular choice?
If you do it would be a great help to me in choosing a holster for my new Glock.

If not, Thanks anyway.
