Midway has Desantis Softuck on sale (some models anyway). Ruger Mk pistols aren't listed in fit guide. Suggestions? Maybe a 1911 model of similar barrel length? Looking for something to carry a Ruger MkIV Lite or MkII 5.5" Target. Neither is a great carry gun, IMHO, but would be nice to have a holster for them anyway.

I have a MK2 that I carry in a generic 1911 OWB holster. That would lead me to think that your suppositions are correct. My barrel is 6in.

Your best bet is to buy a holster made for the model ... there are few things worse than an ill fitting holster ...
Just don't buy a 1911 holster and try to shove your Ruger in there ...Dont do it !

My Ruger MKI Target (6 1/2" bbl) and my MKII standard , holsters are made by Bianchi , tan leather , fits like a gloves and they are about 40 and 45 years old . Well worth the money for a good leather holster .
I'm sure Bianchi makes one for the MKIV ...I know they make them for the MKII ... Do yourself a big favor and order a correct fitting holster for each of your Ruger's with the correct barrel length !

+1 on Ebay searches; I bought this one a few years ago from a seller for my Gov't Mark II ;)

This thread got me curious about generic 1911 holster fitment (no, I'm not looking for a mark II holster).

6 7/8 barrel mark II in a tanker - might actually work with a shorter barrel...

For the Ruger MK II with 5.5" barrel, the old Bianchi #89 leather holster fits perfectly and to me is the best looking holster for a .22 auto ever made.

I’ve hauled one around in this one a lot. It’s actually a revolver holster but works better for the Rugers than anything else I’ve got.

Here's one I made up for my Mkll Standard...it's a straight OWB field holster, & fitted close enough to be used w/o a retainer strap.

I toyed with the idea of adding a mag pocket to the outside as seen above, but decided the rounded contour accommodation necessary for the barrel, would not allow for a secure enough pocket for the mag.

Best Regards, Rod

This is what I use, but I don't really carry mine much, mainly used for plinking and turtle dispatch in my pond 20220920_195025.jpg 20220920_195058.jpg .
