Homemade Scope Case

I want to make (or get) a case for a scope I have. It's a Chinese cheapo, but I want to have it in a "go" bag and be protected. Is there anything "off the shelf" that I can get to use? I can get foam padding from a number of on-line places, put the case itself is eluding me.

I could make one out of wood, I suppose, but it would be a bit heavy. The scope's about 8" long. I don't want to spend much, so please, no expensive camera cases. Any of those surplus shell cases or some such work?

I have several of this type case that I use for my camera,scopes,and pistols. The handles make it easy to carry.
