There is a difference between the store meat buyer and the hunter. A hunter appreciates his food much more since he/she was an integral part in getting the food. Kind of like the difference between an adopted child and your own child. Or from a vegetarian point of view... store bought veggies vs your own backyard garden.

But eating the meat is the largest reason I am interested in hunting, I truly believe it is a great connection to the natural world. Reminiscent of ancient man and bringing out the primitive animal predator in humans.

And yes, it is not respectful of nature to not eat the animal.

If you don't eat it, don't kill it. (With the exeption of predators and the like)
I'm a live and let live kind of guy. If I saw someone kill a deer out of season in order to feed their family, I'd look the other way. If I saw someone kill any game animal illegally, just for sport and waste the meat, I'd turn them in in a heartbeat. I have no patience for it. I'm not against sport hunting either, as long as the meat is put to good use.

That is pretty funny, a vegetarian going hunting. Imagine that.

Bear is really good. But you want to be sure it is cooked well because it's like pork. And except for varmints, if I shoot it, I eat it. And I can't even picture someone not eating venison. Even the best restaurants serve that.

I´ve been brought up the same way by my dad ... be respectful, don´t leave trash in nature, eat what u harvest.

When i first went Squirrel hunting in KY, i spent an hour trying to find my
first kill in very steep area full of old leaves. Didnt find it.
I felt ashamed.

Never took a shot again, without checking first how to acces the "drop-zone".
