Hopper coating?

I hope you're not using that Gunslick inside your measure!
Shoot no lol, I use it on my some of my moving parts on my guns. Been using gun slick on things since I was a boy. Used it on the axles on my pinewood derby cars in scouts. Made a big difference in my time and won me a few trophies too because of it but I would not use it inside of a hopper by a longshot.

What are you having such trouble throwing Kuyon?
I have not used my auto disk yet so I don't know how consistent it is going to be with longshot powder. My so called "perfect" powder measure wouldn't throw two charges the same no matter what I did which is why I bought a new powder measure that I could afford. It is a headache to have to play with every single charge to get it the same for each round. I was fixing to try out the auto disk and come across the prepping of the hopper before using it on a video and some of the things I was reading and it was for that reason I started this thread to find out more about it before I started using it and to see if that might have been my problem with the other measure all along since I never "prepped" it.

I doubt it was because you didn't 'prep it'.

The key to consistency with any powder measure is consistency in the way you mount & use it.

If it wiggles or shakes around on the mount each throw, it will throw different charge weights.

If you slam the handle down one time, and ease it down the next, it will throw different charge weights.

You Must operate it the same way every throw.

You must run about 10 charges thru it after filling or re-filling the hopper, or changing the setting before it settles down.

Thanks RC, your advice is an invaluable resource.

I'm willing to bet you wont have near as much trouble with the Auto Disk that youve had with the PPM. i've heard that thing's a real stinker, and Im having real good success with the PAD now that I know how it works and what it will and wont do.

I guess I will find out soon. I deprimed the rest of my 40 brass last night and still have to clean them up before starting to work up a load with these new bullets. Hurting too much to sit at the bench right now plus it is raining again so no testing today anyway.
