Thats what Hornady implied or that the shop I purchased them from got a hold of that special run.
 
It appears to me these cases have large primer pockets. As was suggested earlier have you measured them.
Try swaging/chamfering them first and see if that helps. A large primer, either regular or magnum should seat fine.

I've had some of these before. Ends up being an optical illusion because the shoulders aren't radiused.

I am 100% sure after speaking with hornady that they were small primer pocket. A large primer pocket uniformer would not go into the case. And a large primer still would not go in after swaging.
 
It seems the industry is heading to the eventual use of non toxic primers. As of now all of them are small pistol size. That would then make sense that retooling one time for all casings to be SPP NT is in our future. Less converting when changing calibers at the factory as well. I hope not though as they might phase out the manufacture of all versions of LPP over time if so.
