I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with the .357 magnum Hornady American Gunner ammunition? This is a 125 grain XTP JHP round that sells anywhere between 60-70 cents a round in 25 round boxes.

If this is a good load, it is probably the lowest priced .357 magnum ammo available for self defense that's of high quality.

I can't speak for the ammo in its entirety, but the XTP is a well proven bullet as far as I'm concerned. As long as it's not under/over loaded it should be fairly good ammo, especially for the price.
I do tend to prefer heavier bullets however.

The advertised velocity of the load is 1500fps from an 8" vented barrel and is 624 ft/lbs.

That sounds about right to me for a .357. Yeah, there are hotter loads out there for .357, but that's for nearly $1 a round, if not a bit more. The only complaint I've read online about this ammo is one person complained of a very bright muzzle flash and he was using a 4 and 5 inch barrel.
