I’m looking for an inexpensive digital scale that is good enough to be used as a quick measure of the weight of a powder throw, to be used as the starting point for a precise measurement using my OHAUS 10-10 (uber reliable) scale.

Is this it?

Put this on your 10-10.

You will be more accurate and have enough money left over to take the wife out to dinner. Note than even this old 505 is more repeatable than they even claim the one you’re looking at can be.

The 10-10 can detect a single kernel once there is something more sensitive than our eye to detect beam movement.

No digital scale I’m aware of can match the OHAUS 10-10 for accuracy and precision. None! Repeated measurements of the same charge will jump around using any digital scale. Not so with an analog scale and the 10-10 is remarkably sensitive to any change, + or -, of the contents in the pan.

I’m only looking for a quick ballpark estimate to begin the final precise measurement using my
10-10.

There are good digitals out there, they are just expensive, the A&D in that 2nd video of #3 is one of them.

Any cheap digital would work as a starting point or any measure or even a dipper like the Lee ones or a homemade one using a spent case and copper wire soldered to it.

Here's my $23 scale. There's a 20gn check weight in the pan.

Same 20gn check weight but with 1 kernel of Varget also added to the pan.

I haven't used a beam scale in 9 years.

I have an Ohaus 10-05. It is on every time, no walking and fairly kernel sensitive. More so than my FA ds-750 digital that walks....But I still use it when I am setting my powder throw to get me close and then trickle up. Would not recommend using soley for measuring powder, But you have what some consider the holy grail of beams. Gravity doesn't walk...So maybe it would work for your needs

My OHAUS 10-10 is the most accurate and precise scale I own ... period.

Just got my Hornady G3-1500 and I must admit my first impression is quite favorable. It has simple operation procedures, a cinch to calibrate, and drifts little (but still some).

I believe this will serve me well as a means to get a quick and roughly accurate measure before honing in on a precise measure using my OHAUS 10-10.
