Would appreciate it if someone in possession of Hornady latest reloading manual could find out the following and post same. Any current recipes would be greatly appreciated also. Just coming back to reloading from the 1970's and obviously my first edition Hornady manual does not have the data I need, but will be renewing my manuals shortly. Thanks in advance.

Glock 26 9MM 3.46 inch barrel
Hornady HP XTP 115 Grain
Unique Powder

Please if responding list the COL also, again Thanks.

Hornady #4 says 5.1 Unique is Max, seated 1.050".

I load them with 5.5 Unique, seated as long as I can to miss the rifling leade in my S&W's & SIG.

Lyman #49 says 5.8 Unique is MAX, seated 1.090"

I guess you pays your money and makes your choices though.

Hornady's latest data (Manual #8) does not list Unique in the powders for 115g.

It gives a C.O.L. of 1.075 for the 115g XTP.

Hornady 6th Edition says 4.0 - 5.0gr of Unique with the 115gr HP-XTP, velocities 900 - 1100 fps (4" barrel), with a COL of 1.060". With the same bullet, powder, and COL, QuickLOAD confirms the 5.0gr maximum (but it would be a very compressed load with the default case capacity). YMMV (a lot).

I'm shocked. Alliant suggests 6.3 grains under a 115 gr Gold Dot. Is there something odd about the XTP bullet?

This is obviously an above-max load for an XTP, but FWIW I use 5.8 grains Unique under a 124 gr Zero JHP. Bullet length is 0.579" and I seat short, to 1.085", to get it to chamber in my DP-51. This is what works for me, but I worked up to it.

No pressure signs. I've loaded up and shot 50 at the same charge weight to an OAL 1.137" as a Glock-only load, and I couldn't see any difference in recoil or accuracy. So now I load 'em all short. Maybe the extra compression decreases the peak pressure?

Yes. Most of it sits in the case and the OAL is 1.050".

Most of the Gold Dot sits outside the case and the OAL is 1.120".

So the XTP has a wider tip profile and/or it is a longer bullet? Anyone know the actual length?

So?

You can still use it.

I know this. He asked for the "Latest Hornady reloading manual" and it's not listed in it. But, maybe you missed that part of the question?

I don't have the data right in front of me, but I load the XTPs for the 9mm with Longshot. It's a really nice powder for S.D. loads in the 40 cal also. I like it because it is a good slow buring powder that provides a nice dense load and consistent pressures. Go to Hogdon's web site and the data will be there for starting loads and maximum. It will also give you a suggested seating depth using the XTP HP.
For both the 9mm and 40 cal I've used this powder for an XD, Taurus 24/7, Taurus Millenium sub compact, Beretta 92F, and various Glocks without any problems.

I'm loading XTPs with Vihtahouri.

115 HP-XTP Hornady 1.142 N320 3.8 1084 4.5 1 200
N330 4.7 1136 5.5 1 266
N340 5.1 1164 6.1 1 321
N350 5.7 1199 6.5 1 313
3N37 5.8 1182 6.9 1 322
+P Data
N320 5.3 1170 5.9 1303 36,300psi
N330 6.2 1290 6.9 1392 36,300psi
N331 6.6 1277 7.3 1364 36,300psi
N340 5.9 1261 6.6 1362 36,300psi
3N37 7.2 1340 7.9 1423 36,300psi
N350 7.0 1300 7.7 1407 36,300psi

5.0gr of Universal.

That's all I've got for the XTP.

Narrower tip / longer shank. TC bullets have to be seated deeper in the case, so they consume more case volume.

918V..Your right, Where. Turned the Hornady site upside down trying to find the answer. Anyway, thanks to all for the workable opinions and to those that passed on documented information. Will load up some this weekend if time permits and see how things go. Someone ask the length of the 115 grain, hornady hp-xtp, I came up with
0.539 +_. Guess I could have made things easier and just gone with a powder other than Unique, but as with anything else, I started off years ago with Unique and RCBS
and found both to serve my purposes. So, good shooting to everyone and have a great weekend.

Thanks for all the help and ideas. Used COL 0.175. Works well for me.

While I haven't loaded any 9mm with 115gr Hornady bullets with Unique, I have loaded a bunch of Remington 115gr JHP's and some Siera 115gr bullets. 5.2 grs of Unique sends those out the barrel of my Glock 19 at 1,151 fps or about equal to the typical standard velocity loads by Winchester, Remington, S&B etc. Going to 6.0grs adds another 100+ fps for 1,257 fps.

Although using a different powder, am loading the 9mm 124 xtp to 1.113 col. This allows the bullet to be used in a CZ compact, with minimal leade to the rifling. Have tried unique and got excellent accuracy and vrelocity.

Might be good idea to load up dummy round, to see what works for individual pistol being used.

Some manuals will not list any loads that end up being compressed, something that can happen with unique in 9mm.

Steve C- how is accuracy with the Rem 115 hp's? Was looking for 115 jhp bullet to use in standard practice rounds, given the good lot price these can be had for.

I just went through this with 115 gr. Gold Dot's and everything came out great. I loaded with with Longshot from Hogdon's current data. The listed charge was from 5.0 to 6.0 with a recomended COAL of 1.125". The charge I've arrived at is 5.8 grains which chronographed at over 1200 fps. I think it averaged 1250 ish.
Seating depth is very different from one bullet type and weight, and must be done with the barrel out of the gun in my opinion. Seating to just off the lands helps keep working pressures consistent, and at their potential lowest. I recomend using a dummy round with a lightly resize mouth, this allows quick easy determination of maximum COAL.

I use the 124 gr XTP bullets in front of Unique in my XD9 4" and PM9 3", loaded to 1.125" COAL. I've ran up to 5.4 grs which gets me 1209 FPS out of the XD and 1077 out of the MP9. I prefer a couple tenths less for regular use. Haven't tried the 115 gr bullets.
