Since there are no silly questions, here we go:

The manual says to use 5/16" bolts to secure the press to the bench. I happen to have some 1/2" bolts lying around, and they fit the holes in the press almost perfectly. The 5/16" have lots of wiggle room.

Is there any reason why Hornady would specify using a 5/16"? I would think that the bigger bolts would make for a more secure mount? I used 1/2" to mount my single stage Hornady Classic. The powder measure stand uses a 5/16". Did they mix up when the wrote the manual?

Is there any logical reason why you wouldn't use the largest bolt that goes through the mounting hole?

Thanks!

I have mine mounted with some cheesy bolts to a cheesy table and it works great, but then again, I only load pistol cases with it. They seem to be a little easier to reload than the rifle cases.

No! Like Dynamite Rabbit stated 5/16" should be the minimum. I have mine bolted to two 1/2" thread-all welded to a 15"x24"3/8" plate along with a RCBS Rock Chucker an a RCBS Powder Measure stand.
