Hello;

A couple questions about the subject press and dies. What exactly does the Hornady bullet feeder die do? Does it only drop a bullet onto the case or does it also seat the bullet in some way? Here's my planned setup:

1. Full Length sizer / decapper
2. Powder through Expander die (PTX)
3. Bullet feeding die (will be used with Hornady bullet tubes)
4. Lee Seating die
5. Lee Factory Crimp die

So what are your thoughts? Any redundancies? Please advise.

The bullet feeder die sets the bullet on top of the case mouth. Then the bullet is seated by the seater die.

thats exactly how I used to have mine setup for thousands of rounds when I used bullet feeder tubes. Works just fine. As stated the case mouth activates the lower collet in the feeding die just enough to drop a bullet in. Some advise is to make sure your case mouth is wide enough to hold the bullet firmly enough that when you move to the next station the bullet doesnt flip sideways or fall off. Gets very annoying

If you're using a dense powder at the bottom end of the charge weight you will need your chair (if seated) at the perfect height in order to be able to see the powder level. I use an inexpensive, height adjustable bar stool - works like a charm.

Thanks for the information and advice. I currently have the Lee (4-station) turret press so I already have lee dies for seating, factory crimping.

I also have a Powder through expander die that works with the Lee powder disk system. I don't expect to be able to use that with the Hornady Powder drop system so I'll just get the Hornady PTX die. I liked the powder cop die, but not with the bullet feeding die. Good idea to do a visual check on the powder before dropping a bullet on it.

BTW, the 115gr jacketed Hollow Base Round Nose (HBRN) bullets from Berry's Bullets are great for 9mm reloading. They are also very consistent and accurate.

Thanks again for the great info. I hope to purchase the Hornady press in the coming months.
