I've shot "regular" Federal loads and Winchester SuperX 12 ga 00 buckshot through my 18.5" 12 ga barrel and was disapointed with the pattern and rather large spread.

I bought some Hornady Critical Defense and Hornady TAP LE shells to see if the pattern improved. Both use Hornady's "Versatite" wad which I read is virtually the same as Federal's Flite Control wad.

All shots were from 10 yds. The pics speak for themselves.

Has Hornady gotten the crimps cleaned up on their buckshot loads yet? The last batch of Hornady TAP red hull I got had such sloppy crimps, I quit buying it and switched to Federal LE127 00.

Here ya go Lee.

These pics are from a 10 count box of Hornady Critical Defense 12ga 00 Buckshot with the Versatite wad. Lot#3111912.

They look OK to me... but as we both know, I don't know spit. :)

I'm not a super fan of Winchester buckshot myself.

However, when I patterned them, they looked much better than that !

That looks like a Remington field load !

I haven't tried those Hornady yet... I may have to now !
