Doesn't matter to me, I won't be able to afford it anyway, whatever it is..... My need/want list is big enough already.

Well just 4 more days till the BIG announcement. Can I wait, I guess so, but I am going with bullets that heat treat themselves after being fired. That have no radar profiles (stealth bullets) coated with radar absorbing chemicals, that have a ballistic coefficient off the charts and can turn on a dime and can self correct their trajectory in the wind. (LOL)

Well we can dream can't we.

Stay safe
Jim

What would be great is a bullet with a spiral grove in the bullet that would give it the correct twist rate for the caliber and weight of the bullet.

The video reminds me of all the hype leading up to the introduction of the Segway. It too was going to change the world.

No doubt Hornady has something up its sleeve, but then Ruger just introduced another version of the plastic bullet, Nosler has produced a high BC long range bullet and cartridge, Taurus has marketed a bent (curved) hand gun with no sights and so forth and so on.

Now days everybody has to have a hook of some sort accompanied by a snappy video, lavish packaging, an aura of mystery and near science fiction claims.

Wake me when it gets here. In the meantime, I've got a ton of alloy I need to reconfigure into more usable shapes

From the video...

We've solved a problem that none of use ever really fully realized existed before.

How much of a problem can it be if you didn't know it existed? The above statement sounds more like the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I am a huge fan of Hornady, but the teaser ad sounds more like they are trying to beef up something that really isn't all that great. You know, "Well, we spent a lot of money on development. Let's see if we can sell it..." sort of ad.

Sorry, but I can't get excited over the hype of the unknown.

Sounds like whatever it is, it's going to make me aware of a problem that up until now I was perfectly happy not knowing I had. Thanks, Hornady.

The cat's out of the bag, they are coming out with an expanded line of 45 GAP ammo. Sorry for spoiling the surprise.

It should be obvious, they are going to start serving breakfast all day.

What else could be this earth shattering?

OH! You mean like the LNL bushing that solves the problem of people that are too lazy to screw dies in and out of a threaded hole?!

I figured it out, I figured it out!!!

As they used a form of the dreaded

"A solution to a problem that doesn't exist"

It must be a:

Hornady Factory Crimp Die!!!

:D

It must be the patent I sold to Hornady.

Hand grafted 165gr .40cal plated bullet with improved BC and improved penetration due to a patented nose. The bullet also has improved safety features since the finished round will have a headstamp on the bullet as well as on the case. This prevents the shooter from loading the round in the wrong caliber gun. The bullet also contains the new SBE (sound barrier eraser) design. The design of the nose creates a vacuum in the front of the bullet that negates the sound barrier reduced controllability, and results in better stability. This SBE technology also eliminates the sharp crack when the bullet breaks the sound barrier since this now happens inside a vacuum.

The video leads me to believe it will be a new bullet design with very high BC for long range shooting, like Nosler's Accubond Long Range. And perhaps better accuracy?

While interesting, I'm not convinced that patent for what looks like an improved Critical Defense style bullet is what Hornady is planning on announcing on the 27th. If it was, why emphasize the use of Doppler Radar testing, and why show the long distance shooting range in your video?

The whole "We didn't even know it was a problem until we stumbled on the solution!" remark was an unfortunate clip to include on a new product advertisement. But a lot of useful things were discovered that way.

Maybe it will be a zip spindle decapper that actually works? Or maybe they are announcing that they are going to start painting their presses blue.

Maybe it's werewolf or vampire ammunition to compliment their zombie line?
