greg, this sat will just be a blast session, the camp out will be in the summer...

Well, the offer of a grill & the back 40 (actually 2) is still open if we want to do dinner up at my place after the recoil therapy :D .

if we do a campout i'll have to schedule this during my vacation, which falls between 7-10 and 7-25, what do you think??

The later in July the better for me.

please no persuasion necissary. just tell me when to get into the truck.

is this happening saturday the 28th??uhoh: If so I'll be in Florida :cuss:

Henry I'll start praying now that you're summer weekend is not conflicted;)

sounds like it could be a good time.

Ok, it looks like we are good for Sat afternoon. Do you want me to bring anything other than a shotgun to shoot? If nothing else I'll probably throw a .22 in so that the boys can do some plinking every now and then (12 gauge is a bit much for the 8 year old :D ). When & where do you want to meet?

If so I'll be in Florida :cuss:

:scrutiny: Yeah, my heart's breaking. Stuck on a beach somewhere enjoying the scenery walk by while we're in the middle of a cow pasture with dead grass & leafless trees to look at. :scrutiny:

:neener:

if anyone else is up for a blast session this sat. afternoon drop me a pm so we can work out the time....
later

Yesterday was lots of fun. A real nice piece of property to have various types of fun on. Extra long range shooting will have to be scheduled for a specific time frame with nothing else going on as you would be shooting over the firing line  .

July should be a great time.

Greg

and what a nice day it was... why is my face so red, and sensitive to the touch... oh yeah, the sun... that was a welcome change to the weather lately...

got to work on some targets, something large, framed out of 2x4's, with steel plate swingers or someting... i'll build it and test it before summer...

how do i go about building an out- house??? the buliding is a no brainer, but what about the hole itself??
how deep?
should there be any kind on chemical agent to add??
and where should it go??

im thinking the campsite would be best, but then the camp site is beyond the firing line...

some input please...

YY,

Glad to hear it went well. I'm looking forward to the shoot later this summer.

If you build an outhouse, you'll probably want the hole very deep. Also, it will begin to stink before too long and will eventually fill up.

Another option is to burn off the waste. Instead of digging a hole, just cut a 55-gallon drum in half and put one half of it under the seat. The outhouse would look the same, you would just have a small door in the back for removal of the drum. When the weekend is over, some poor soul would then take the drum downwind, pour some gas into it, and light it on fire. You definitly want to be downwind of anyone else when you burn it, trust me. Also, if you can mount a bracket or something for a pole to attach to, that would be good. Or, you could drill two holes through the top, so you could slide a pole through them and two people could lift it up. Just make sure they have a long pole, gloves, painters overalls and strong stomachs. You'll also want to keep a fire extinguisher handy, just in case it gets out of control. I'd also suggest something to ignite it with other than a match or cig lighter. Plan ahead for this part of the operation. You don't want to be the poor soul who has to kneel down and light the drum with a Bic, because you forgot to bring some paper with you. An used target would probably work for this, roll it up nice and long.

Oh, and good luck finding someone to volunteer for this detail.

Frank

It was a lot of fun! Now time to shop for targets that will last...

As for the latrine, if you get the 55 gallon drum, attach an eyebolt to it and you can just tow it out with the ATV and tow ropes. Problem solved.

There should be some army field manuals online for Field Sanitation that should cover it pretty well.
