Attach with Velcro Sticky Back patches 7/8" square. got mine at Home Depot.

Material is Armaflex insulation available from airconditioning installation folks.

I cut another velcro in half and stuck on underside of handle where I have different size rubber pads stored.

Saw a guy using a piece of Armaflex about 2" cube. His brass dropped down on mat right next to him.

That seems like a great idea that is possibly not legal for NRA service rifle competition: "...external modification..."
I may try it on my Match rifle.

OK...what is the point of this? The only time I've ever been pelted with hot brass was in move/shoot drills where I was stacked up on someone's flank and was not smart enough to choose the leftmost position. :uhoh:

Even shooting left-side shoulder I never get hit with my own brass.

seems like a little potential for bouncing the brass back into the action.. i wouldn't do it on a fightin gun

A brass catcher would be easier, or setting up a screen by your shooting position. Mosquito netting is light and has the added bonus of being able to actually collect your brass for you.

I know all ARs are not created equal, but my AR (a Colt LE6920) does not pelt me with hot brass. Who are you protecting from hot brass? Don't most ranges have partitions between the lanes? If you're not at a range with partitions, then whoever is getting pelted by your ejected brass should just move. :) If YOU are getting pelted by your own brass, you should move whatever body part is hanging out in front of the ejection port.

The only weapon I have that ever hits me with ejected brass is my 1911, but it's an SA GI.45 model without the lowered ejection port.

They need something for an AK, I've nailed fellow patrons with brass over 30 feet away... They looked confused like crazy...

Yeah really. My ARs drop the brass, what, maybe 4 ft away. Get back to me when you figure out something for the AK or G3 clone.

A buddy of mine has a Ruger Mini-14 that was launching brass onto the roof of a nearby barn the last time we shot it. :what:

My local range has tables set up for shooting positions that are only a few feet away from each other. I think its considerate to your fellow shooting enthusiasts to do what you can to not pelt them with hot brass.

I normally pick a table that doesn't have anyone else using the 3-4 tables to the right of it when I can. And if someone told me to move after they plop down next to me and start dumping brass on ME, we'd exchange some words.

I was personally pretty pissed when I was lining up the 5th shot of a nice and tight 4 round group and got rained on by the guy 3 tables over, bump-firing his AK.

If I think that I might be bothering someone with my brass, I have the courtesy to let them know Ill be shooting before emptying a mag of brass onto them.

If you're not at a range with partitions, then whoever is getting pelted by your ejected brass should just move.

Wrong answer. You're the guy with the overzealous ejector. Therefore, in everyone else's eyes, you're the jerk. Sorry, but that needed to be said. If your gun is creating a problem for other shooters, YOU need to move. I once saw a guy whose AR-15 was sending spent shells 2-3 tables away. The range was full. Nobody could move. Everyone was really sick of getting hit by his hot casings. Fortunately, that range now has ejector screens.

My advice: buy a laundry hamper kit (the type with a mesh bag and PVC frame) and assemble that to give you a standup screen.

To clarify, when I said "If you're not at a range with partitions, then whoever is getting pelted by your ejected brass should just move," I was envisioning two guys out plinking in a field somewhere. That's usually where I'm shooting when I'm not at an indoor or outdoor range with partitions.

I did NOT mean that you should go to a range without adequate partitions and then force other people to accept your hot brass in their faces. This thought never occurred to me, because the indoor and outdoor ranges I've visited all have adequate partitions.

I try to get to the far right when using my AKs b/c I know they throw the brass several benches down. That's not always possible b/c those benches also have holes @ 7 yds for handguns, so they fill up first. If that's the case I get as far to the left as possible. If the range is packed I'll shoot the ARs or something with a shorter effective range on the empties.

HOWEVER, if I'm there first and YOU set up shop to my right with in range. I ain't budging, you can move or deal with it. I do the same with other guys, if I take a bench to their right and I'm geting hit with empties; I move or wait til they reload. If I'm there first then I'll say something. I feel that's fair.
