Colorado rifle club out of Byers Co had the State rifle championships on Saturday and the 4 man team match and then the EIC (leg) match on Sunday.

Sat started out windy but it died down to under 7mph or less for most of the day with NO clouds. At the 600 yard line in the afternoon the temps were 102 to 103 and with laying the temp gage on the mat (kinda a yearly tradition) I picked it up at 130 and it was still climbing. Alot of folks had problems with the heat but no body to the hospital so that was good.

Todays matches were just as hot but with winds from 6mph to just over 15 mph.
Sat was won by Sam chopping from Wyoming with a like 783 (match rifle)and followed closely by Dave Sullivan with a 778 (service rifle).
I took 4th with a 761. tough day.

Today was a very tough day with the temps and how long you were out in it.
4 man team started at 8 and we did not get the leg started untill like 12:30 so that was the heat of the day. Wind for off hand was like around 10mph to 15mph for the string.
we did not finish till like 4:30 so it makes it a great day to get used to the conditions you might experience at camp perry.
Only two legs were given out today as we only had 20 non dist shooters.
The 8 point leg went to Greg Brown with a 462 for his first points. Congrats!

I took the gold and 10 point leg with a 482.

Made a few dumb mistakes at 600 but just tried to keep them on my target and not make any major mistakes.
So now I have 28 points and its off to Raton for the leg this weekend and then my 3rd leg will be up at Buffalo creek over the 4th. I hope to finish out by perry but just happy to be close as I can tell you I was a nervous wreck before and during the match.
The monkey? Well lets just say last year I was not nervous at all but it was a different story today.

Thanks Jon

My medals finally showed up from the CMP. We shot the match in early April! A silver place medal and a Bronze EiC medal for my first 10 Leg points.
