Hot dog! Found the load for my AR 762x39.

I was running .311 at 1st. Couldn't get a good group. I slugged my bore then. It came out at .306. The bullets i used are plated 120 grain accura out doors bullets. I did talk to the owner awhile back too. He said those bullets in a 1:10 twist can be ran up to 3000 FPS. I have ran them in my 30.06 at those loads. No issues.

Gotcha, I have an older colt ltwght sporter and a mac90 and never worried about bullet size as I had cheap ammo bought years ago. Didn't know if ar was different.

Good deal, looks like you have assembled a winner!

I haven’t slugged my 7.62x39 AR bore, but since it is an AR Stoner from Brownells I will hope it slugs at 308” thereabouts. :)

All I have shot is the Russian Wolf stuff, whanging away at steel plates with open sights. So I will readily admit my groups (patterns?) will not even compare to yours. ;)

Stay safe.

Is this that BCA upper? I should probably slug mine, that is good to know. I have never shot a group with mine, but that is good to know that it might shoot well with .308 bullets. Makes for some much more economic reloading.

I thought I saw somewhere in their faqs that the barrels are .311, but can't put my hands on that bit of info again. Anyway, good to know, thanks for sharing.

Yes the BCA. I read others who have them. They slugged at .306. I agree being 308 is cheaper and there is more bullet selection. I looked on bear creeks site looking for bore info too. No luck. I tried calling too. Could never get through. I did a review on the upper. And mentioned about what it slugged too. I also reviewed the mags i got. And mentioned 1 i had to load 8 in for it feed.

I saw where you slugged your bore with powder coated bullets in another thread, I believe. Using hard-cast lead bullets, especially powder coated will skew the results.

My guess is your BCA barrel is .308 or possibly .310, which is SAAMI recommended spec. Best lead to slug with is bullet shape fishing sinkers that are slightly larger than the bore. You can buy them at Walmart. Not that it matters at this point because you found your "magic bullet" anyway. Just for future reference and for others reading the thread.

7.62x39 AR barrels vary quite a bit depending on manufacturer from .308 to .311 bores. They all shoot bullets from .308 to .311 just fine, but of course every barrel has a projectile or two that it shoots best.

H335 is very accurate with light bullets, but it won't get you the velocity that a case full of CFE BLK will. Would be nice to know what your velocities were. Maybe a project for another time. For 100 yard target shooting it doesn't really matter, but for other applications it might.

Yeah i didn't chrono them. I tend to run just above starting loads. It conserves powder. And we can't use semi-auto in Pa for big game yet. They did finally allow it for small game and varmints. I do have a bolt in 7.62x39 too. But i use my 30.06 for big game. While im on the subject of hunting. I called the game commission today. And asked if plated bullets were allowed. He said yes as long as there designed to expand.
