Ha! Those are pretty cool.

I bet the first time a teacher / administrator saw that the student would be a goner. If a kid can get expelled for a pop tart shaped gun, I'm sure they could get expelled for one of those.

Don't pretend to know the atmosphere everywhere in the US.
I could buy one for my kid and he'd take it to school and by the end of the day all his teachers would have told him it was neat. Some people, even some teachers, still have common sense.
I'll guarantee he could use it until someone stole it, aka about a week.
 
I live in a very gun-friendly locale myself, but in the day and age of "zero tolerance" I wouldn't allow *my* child to take that risk. While some may see it for what it is, it takes exactly one person's overreaction to put a permanent black mark on a child's record...expulsions, suspensions, and the like aren't worth it to me when a simple "stick" USB drive accomplished exactly the same thing without drawing undue attention. I like being lo-key and not drawing attention to myself of my family if I can help it.
 
Any parent that would allow a kid to take that to school is an idiot. I taught in a very gun friendly school and school system for 30 years. Any way possible and the kid would have it sent to the office and have the parents come and pick it up with nothing else. But there is too much bad that can happen.

We had a state senators grandson who had a toy gun in his car. He was giving another kid a ride home from school when the other kid decided it would be cool to point the gun at some other students in the parking lot as they left.

They had no way of knowing it was a toy and it caused a major incident with LE involved. Everything was kept quiet, no arrests were made and it never made the papers. But both kids were looking at 1 year suspension. The senators grandson was able to transfer to a private school to avoid the suspension. The other kid was out of district anyway and was sent back to the school in the district where he lived.

Both were good kids, who did something stupid.
