I love the Whittington Center, took my brand new NYC Uptown girl wife there for a camp out back in the 90s and taught her how to pull targets on the 1000 yard range (that lasted about ten minutes before she told me to do it so she could shoot and now she has as many guns as I do). We love Raton and I was a NM boy before we moved to MT.

Honestly, I just use this place for information. From what I have noticed, a lot of people here have some sort of " I'm better than you complex " going on. Not the type of people I willingly go out of my way to hang out with.

In my opinion only, the best way to learn and grow is to hang with people "better than me". Never being afraid to learn makes for a good student and, maybe some day, a good teacher.

The THR folks I've met have been real gents. I wouldn't place too much weight on all the internet swagger.
I'm down for a THR meet, assuming it's driveable so I wouldn't have to go through the TSA dragnet.

Some do, yes. But that's our society today. THR has a far greater percentage of positive helpful individuals than any other site of which I've been a member. And I'm a picky SOB with a very lousy attitude.
I would be very happy to attend a cookout but I don't know if I can even if it's in my geographic region.

I've been here for over 3 years, Most of the people here aren't like that. Granted you got a few people that aren't High Road here that make idiotic statements. One guy said that most people that own AR 15s are idiots that play Call of Duty.

After all I've read on THR about New York's gun laws, I wouldn't put that state at the top of my list.
You're going to have to pick a state that is friendly to folks bringing their own firearms and that honors out of state carry permits if you expect any sort of turn out.

Arkansas recognizes 36 states for carry. I believe OK recognizes 47.
