How about airsoft for HD when you can't get a gun.

How about a paintball gun shooting frozen paintballs? I have had some luck shooting frozen paintballs, they seem to cause alot more damage than regular ones. Just make sure you don't shoot them out of your competition gun because they do swell to a bit larger and can damage your gun, so its best to shoot out of a crap gun like one from wally world. Getting hit with a frozen paintball hurts ALOT and it usually does not break

My best friend owns several of them including the 6 foot Odachi, thats one helluva sword.

Cool thing about Ritter steel is they are fully functional swords, not wallhangers. Made out of Carbon steel these are meant for blade to blade contact. You must oil them and keep them in thier scabbards most of the time to protect the blades, but when the ???? hits the fan you can depend on these as they were meant for what a sword is supposed to be used for, physical contact. Again, not a wallhanger like most fleamarket and ebay swords are.

Just my 2 cents. My best friend has em all over the place and so theres a legitmate sword within reach. He wont buy a firearm, but he loves his swords. I sure as hell wouldn't want a stab wound from one of these any more than being shot with any kind of ammo round. People laugh at the .22 lr being hardly anything but when push comes to shove, would you like being hit with one, I know I sure wouldn't. If thats all you have, its better than nothing. Its gonna hurt more than a 6mm plastic BB. Just like his swords are gonna hurt more than that 6mm BB too.

Just food for thought, and they are beautiful pieces of craftsmanship. You should consider one if you just cannot have a firearm. Im just glad I have my 9mm JHP's for just in case :)

Though without training, a sword of any sort is pretty much more of a danger to you than the attacker.

I agree some training is a great thing. I also disagree with a large blade being primary defense, even without a firearm, but that's a pretty sweeping statement, Br'er Wolf.

Vaguely reminiscient, in fact, of many comments about firearms...

true true

your right, i guess i forgot to mention that my friend has had extensive martial arts training and would be a worthy threat to someone, but for one who has not been trained in the deadly arts, probably would wack off thier own arm or something :(

still, for one who cannot have a firearm because of stupid lawmakers who are blindsided by whats really going on in the world, some sort of self defense training courses might be a good option, anyhow just a suggestion, I should have stated proper instruction is a must, wether its firearms, swords, or just hand to hand combat

What about the option of a black powder revlover? I know at least in the states they are pretty unregulated and can even be ordeded (depending on local laws) online and shipped to your door.

.44 cal bullet and and could of smoke, don't get much better then that....

Well, they sure worked in gunfights out west, back then. :D
Problem is that you have to keep the powder away from humidity, and there's a lot of other factors. The reasons why they went to rimfire and centerfire cartridges. Really don't know much about blackpowders. I know they WILL kill someone at close range, as they were designed to.

All I know is I would rather trust my life on some proven black powder gun even if it is outdated tech rather then trust my life on an automatic bb gun, paintballgun, or bladed weapon.
