How about airsoft for HD when you can't get a gun.

I vote for either a straw and spitwad. Put a bunch in your mouth and you can shoot auto.

Or if that is too scary, I'd go with a bunch of rubber bands. You can fire those really quickly.

If you can't own a gun. I'd stick with a baseball bat.

grnzbra,

If you cannot own a firearm, I'm a little curious as to how you were able to attend Gabe Suarez's firearms class?

John,

You forgot a few of the disqualifications: involuntarily committed to a mental hospital. In Georgia, you can be involuntarily committed to a mental hospital for 24 hours observation by one MD filling out one form. The MD can be a dermatologist. Whether this would fulfill the federal involuntary committment thingie...I don't know.

If you're under 21 .

Under indictment...you're innocent until proven guilty except when they want to treat you as if you were guilty.

Under information...they can't quite get the grand jury to vote right on the indictment but they want to treat you as if you were guilty anyway.

after you unload a clip in his face you can just beat him with the frame.. it's a split between a stick and that. though if you blow an eye out (easily can) that's effectively one very sorry BG crying on your floor.

Is there a reason why you are wondering about airsoft for self defense? Are you just curious or is that your only current option? Like mentioned there are several other cheap alternatives. Anybody mention a crossbow yet? :) may not be as good in close quarters as a baseball bat, but you can sit on top of your stairs with one. Not sure on the legality however. I imagine they wouldn't be too restricted.

There was a juvie crime problem a while back with kids shooting glass marbles out of paintball guns...

You're much better off with a stick since it would be easier to pull out of your posterior than an airsoft gun!

Jeff Cooper once said that he'd prefer a hatchet to a .25 Auto (he calls them 'noseguns', BTW) and that's ACTUALLY A FIREARM.

ooh, this one is a week old

ok, First off I like to show off my gun, I call it home defense and it's named well

Unfortunately, it's not a real gun! It's an airsoft, but before you folks start slaping your knees and laughing, I'll give you some history on this particular peice.

This gun is a Kokusai "Crimebuster" AR-15, it's design is purely semi automatic, and it's gas powered. My current configuration has allowed it to work off an external gas source (regulated HPA/CO2). She was manufactured in the late 80's early 90's and is no longer available on the market, if you even get close to finding one, it'll probably run you about $600-700. Funny, I could've gotten myself a real one... Then again, I was 17 and probably didnt have the money for it anyways. I got this just last year through a series of extremely well planned and calculated moves with my own investment of about $200.

Each magazine will hold about 30rds reliably, and the gun is set to use specifically heavy graphite polished, or high grade ammo. Currently, it's maximum power is about 1000+fps with a .36g projectile; I have not chronoed it, but my maximum input pressure is 280psi. During a normal plink with my freinds, I operate at 80psi at the total power of about 430fps with a .29 projectile. It's total range is roughly 450ft and it WILL hurt really bad if you meet the wrong end of it.

A while ago, local farmers allowed me access on their land, and someone had a chance of putting pressure up on my CO2 rig and shot a rabbit munching on some fruit... needless to say, it wasnt very nice of the person, and the rabbit made some good stew the same night.

THIS IS NOT A TOY

I know more then one convicted felon that legally keeps a loaded backpower revolver in their home for protection. Don't dismiss them, that is one big chunk of heavy lead coming out the business end of one of those old smoke poles.

If I could not legally own a gun and wanted to stay within the law, that is the route I would take.

+1 on the Black powder revo. We are talking about a very capable arm here. Usually .38-.44 caliber, repeater, lead ball that will flatten like a hollowpoint, can be reloaded with an extra cylinder reasonalby quickly.

I personally would not want to go up against somebody who knows what they are doing with a BP revolver.

As far as airsoft goes, you would be better off using the "gun" as a club or better yet grab a kitchen knife.

I've handled one of those PPP M134 cannons at the feild, the Straypher can easily be made with a water bottle and brass tube, where as the vulcan cannon is a real pain in the ass to load... it runs on both batteries and gas which must be stored somewhere.

The only interesting gun he had was the mini cannon with the arm mounts so you can do some Team Fortress style gunning

Black powder is good. Another thing I would reccomend is a Hilti powder actuated nail gun. They might not be any more powerful than a 10 shot .380, but they are as quiet as a red ryder. With practice, I have found it possible to hit milk jugs at 15 feet. Since I am to young to get a cpl, I keep mine on my passenger seat while going through Detroit to get to a jobsight.

Once, my 5 year-old son hit me on the nose with a Wiffle Ball bat. It made my glasses fly off and my eyes started to water. Since plastic bats are lightweight and easy to obtain (not to mention that they don't scare the Sheeple), would they make effective self-defense tools? :scrutiny: :)

I say, be more of a man. Tackle the invader, and carry a loaf of bread. Force it down his throat until he chokes :p

go for the broken whisky bottle. Just keep in mind to keep one ready, as breaking one during a moment of stress may result in a sub-standard broken whisky bottle.

What about a chainsaw? I'm sure the noise would scare people away. Good luck explaining that one to a jury though.

NO, no, and no.

A paintball gun loaded with pepper balls might be a distant 2nd to a firearm for home defense. Good luck finding a company that will sell to a non-LEO.

John

I'd found one online, ordered three tubes and one of practice balls.

They exist.

...

i think that may be the only sound scarier than a pump action being shucked. especially in a dark house in the middle of the night.

and hell, once you crank it up, you don't even have to worry about calling 911 - the neighbors'll do it for you!
