I am considering purchase of a CZ-75B and would like to hear from any CZ-75 shooters. Does the CZ-75 work well for competition- i.e. idpa or ipsc? Any pros and cons about shooting a CZ-75B? Thank you.

It's won many national and international competitions in the hands of excellent shooters over the years. It's also possibly the most undervalued quality handgun in the world.

Very good guns. In terms of overall popularity, they take a distant third to 1.) the various 1911 and 2011-pattern handguns, and 2.) Glocks.

Several of my friends use CZ-75s in practical competition and do very well.

Pros - the trigger can be safely made very light and very smooth - I've handled some CZs with better triggers than a tuned-up 1911. Most people seem to find the ergonomics and pointing characteristics agreeable.

Cons - much less aftermarket parts/support than the 1911 or Glock, particularly in the area of reliable 140mm magazines. The CZ-75 is really at its best as a USPSA Production or IDPA gun.

I talked with a CZ-USA rep the other day when she was visiting "The Bullet Hole" promoting and she said that they are starting to import 25 round magazines for the CZ 75B 9mm and they should be in stock very soon. Didn't ask a price. My guess is that these are mags they developed for the CZ 75 Select (not available in the US, and not legal in KS, but I'd so love to have one).

For Limited 10 or IDPA my vote would be for the CZ 97B if it fits your hands. I've never had a better shooting centerfire handgun.

The CZ 75B TS and discontinued IDPA Standard both use a non-standard wide bodied magazine that holds 20+1 of 9mm or 16+1 rounds of 40 S&W in a nearly flush fit magazine.

I really like my CZ 85 Combat especially since I put in the Wolff springs and Hoage wooden grips with "correct" screw heads. I wonder how this stacks up to the 75? I understand the "drop free" magazine is supposed to be an advantage in competition. I basically went with the 85 since I'm a lefty (not politically).

I have been using a stock 75B 9mm for a year in local IDPA and 3-gun matches. It is extremely easy to shoot quickly engaing multiple close range steel plates and 75 yard steel silhouettes. I think the 75SA model is better suited for the games since it has the ambi safety and drop free mag features.

I shot a CZ75b for short time..until I got my CZ75SP01..

the 75b I had was a nice little gun..easy to shoot, very reliable..very good for IDPA SSP and USPSA production..

I don't shoot a lot of IDPA..but a lot of USPSA..so I switched to the SP01..great gun..soft and easy to shoot..very quick..and extremely accurate.

I shot my 75BD (decocker) for a couple of years in Production. It has a felt recoil that is a lot less than lots of other 9mms out there. Very reliable and super comfortable.

The 25 round mags are for the select fire machine pistol variant. They work justfine in the regular 75 series pistols

The SP01 mags hold 19 rounds and also work well with the regular 75...

I have a CZ75 B that I had converted to a double/single action gun by Matthew Mink. The trigger is incredible and the gun is very fun to shoot. The CZ I have is a very accurate pistol and it sits low in my hand so recoil is not an issue. It is a natural pointing pistol so no need to look at the gun on the close range targets as it'll hit what I am looking at.
If you get a chance to pick one up I'd do it. As someone said earlier, this gun very well may the be most underrated pistol on the market.
I shot mine at a local IDPA match last Saturday and I had fun whoopen' up on some 1911 dudes. (although I shoot 1911's as well and I LOVE them too...so I'm not dissin' the 1911).

I use my 75B for all comps and have never had a problem with it. Quick to point, accurate with a smooth trigger. The 9mm is easy on the wallet compared to my SA .45. It's also my everyday carry gun.

When the CZ-75B first came into the shop I worked in, up here, 25 years ago, every one of 'em had a factory test target. Most of 'em had a 2" or so group. Haven't a clue as to what ammo. Likely Czech ball. Would have bought one myself, except the friggin' thing is too big for my hand. Sniff. If it fits your hand, buy it. It's a high quality, well made, pistol.

For an average joe, like me... no negatives at all

I've used my CZ75 P01 in IDPA, P.A.L., and 3-Gun for the last year and have done fine with it. Then I started hankering for a full-sized gun. I recently started shooting a CZ75BD, and the recoil impulse was definitely less with the all steel, full-size gun.

At my last IDPA match I used my newly acquired (used) CZ75B in satin stainless. It shot like a dream for me. I had my first match where I didn't make any mental errors. I find my CZs easy to shoot, accurate and reliable. They seem to make me look a better shooter than I am. At this point I don't even consider other handguns, just CZs.

regards,

Luis Leon
