How are the AK47's from I.O. Inc.?

I dont know about their AKs but their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with of any company firearms related or otherwise.

I personally will never do business with them again. This thread reminds me I need to call them AGAIN when I get home.
 
it's a WASR-10. Go and buy it from someone like AIM, etc., who are more well-known not to bull---- you and your money.

I do not believe that the current IO AKs are WASR-10's. Note the dimpled reciever, and the text under the picture stating that the receiver and barrel are made in the USA. My WASR has a Romanian receiver and barrel. The older IO AKs were simply dressed up WASRs, and I'm sure that plenty of Romanian parts, make it onto these rifles, but from the description the current IO AK is not simply a converted WASR.

I don't have any experience with the IO AK, but I do have a WASR and a non converted Saiga. If I knew more about AKs when I bought mine, I would have gone with a converted Saiga to begin with, and may still get one eventually. I like my unconverted saiga enough to keep it as is.
 
The STG-2000 and STG-2003 are nothing more than WASRs made to IO's specs.

IO is using the legal wording of the 922r laws to promote their "100% made in the USA" guns (which, technically, they aren't).

That may be true, but the IO website no longer lists a STG-2000 or STG-2003, but they list an AK-47c. Now all articles on the STG-2000 show pictures of the gun with no dimples in the receiver, while the pictures of the AK-47c on IOs websight show dimpled receivers with a claim that the receiver is made in the USA.

Here is the list of features from the IO websight.

If the receiver, barrel, furniture, pistol grip and trigger are truely made in the US and the bolt, bolt carrier, gas tube and piston are WASR parts, can you really consider the entire rifle to be a WASR 10? I would argue that you can't.
 
I've purchased from IO on a few occasions and it has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I would never believe anything they said.

+1 on that. my experiences (5 months and running trying to get my order sorted out) has left me feeling the exact same way.

For a little more info for anyone who would consider ordering from them here is how my experience with them just concluded.

Five months ago I ordered 5 AK mags. One was a 47 round Master molder. I had a host of problems with the rest of the order but when it was squared away (2 months after my initial order and hassling them to get anywhere) I was still short the 47 rounder. I call and they tell me they are back ordered. The website didn't show them out of stock but, "okay whatever" I thought. They told me then two weeks. Three or four weeks later they tell me 2 weeks again. Three weeks later they tell me they dont know but that they get them locally so it is just a matter of going over and getting them. A few weeks later the same story. Now a full five months after I ordered, I call and they tell me that they don't think they will be getting any. Why the hell wouldn't you call me back and let me know if you knew there were none coming? Like I said the poorest service I have ever had buying anything online. I honestly think they would have simply kept my money had I not called them. We call that stealing where I am from.

Now we will see how long it takes them to actually refund my money. I have come to expect that to not go smoothly either.

They are definitely on my do not purchase from list.

Yeah i have the one with the would forgrip on it, which is the ugliest fruniture they have. i price was 545.00 at the gun show brand new. the receiver is thicker than my wasr-10 and the finish was in new condition unlike any wasr-10. i would say this is the best deal if you can't find a sar-1 with bayo lug and treads for break
 
Just got back from shooting my IO AK-47c. The gas tube partially came off the gas block. This is my second major problem with this gun in about 4-5 times shooting it. I would definitely NOT recommend IO. :banghead:
 
Took mine out and put 300 rounds though it today. I am very happy with it. Seems solid and was fairly accurate out of the box. I am going back tomorrow after a good cleaning to finish sighting it in. Only issue I had was a couple of times the bolt hung and I had to give it a little push to make it feed, but that was with the really cheap hotshots ammo. Every mag full of wolf cycled flawlessly. I bet once I clean it good and break it in a little more even the hotshots will cycle fine. OH OH! and this is my first AK!!!

The butt stock and pistol grip ARE "REAL AK furniture". They're modeled on the East German STG-940 rifle furniture.

The Tapco forearm is new, as originally these rifles came with the full set of EG pattern furniture.


. . . . but yes, an AK is an AK, and you can Ken & Barbie it how you want it. .

The only "real" furniture I have on any of my commie bloc rifles is on my sks, and my mosin has "real" imperial furniture on it. Those two rifles acctually have some historical value. All the aks we get in the us are basically fakes. But to answer the question is it a Romanian style stamped receiver and I can put just about any style furniture on it I want. I may put a tapco t-6 adjustable stock on it or I may just leave it alone. Its a straight shooting ak-47 style rifle and its mine.
 
I.O. AK-47c

Bought the "liberty" ak-47c, Tapco polymer furniture, US made milled reciever(not stamped like the WASRs), US made barrel, slanted muzzle break....everything else looks like it came from a Romanian AK kit. $550. When I bought this gun it had no oil what so ever in it. Took out and shot, jammed often. You cock the slide an it would catch coming back. It has a tapco trigger and hammer group. I actually grinded the blue off the bottom of the sliding action and hammer. Then I grinded the A shaped hammer flat and polished with my Dremel tool. Took about 30min. Oiled thouroughly. Went out and fired it and it has very little resistance on the hammer, not near enough resistance to catch anymore ... shot 5" groups at rapid fire@ 30yds.... accurate....no jams, less resistance on the sliide than the WASR's, shoots like a Saiga. Came with a nice 30rd standard ak-47 polymer magazine. No wobbles. Tight. Fully compatible with other ak-47 parts , but has no side scope rail, guess ill need the slide cover with 1" rings.Would recommend to anyone who doesnt mind "fine tuning" the parts.
