I'm looking at Mcmillian stocks and like the swirl pattern but I'm also looking at a few paint patterns. How well do the paint patterns hold up? Even a solid paint color? How much abuse or years do they need to see before its time to repaint them?
The swirl patterns on McMillian's are molded into the stock, not painted on. I've been using a Brown Precision for over 20 years. I repainted it a couple of years ago because I wanted to change the color. On the fiberglass stocks, using quality paint they hold up pretty well. Some of the tupperware stocks do not let the paint adhere as well in my experience. But it is much easier to repaint than refinish a wood stock.
