Hi, new user, old shooter...
I am at my end with this whole thing, hoping SOMEONE can shed some light. I have recently purchased a 45 Osprey (SilencerCo) for my USP 45T. Got it, shot it, like it... until I shot it next to my buddy's Gemtech blackside. His can was as quiet as mine dry and QUIETER wet! I did TONS of research and cannot find anyone who can say this is possible, EVERYTHING I find says the Osprey should dust the blackside. I called SilencerCo, outstanding customer service by the way, and they said that should not be possible and to send the can in. They got it, tested it, and it registered 132db dry and 125db wet, so its not my can that is the issue. I used my can on my gun AND took my buddy's blackside off his and used it on mine as well, I shot both of em so the positioning was the same, and the blackside was noticeably quieter than my Osprey when shot wet. SilencerCo is faithfully trying to get to the bottom of this, and said the next time they are in my neck of the woods they would come to us and do some meter testing with my can and my buddy's can, if he is cool with it. They mentioned it possibly being my pistol as the issue, maybe the recoil spring is weak allowing some of the gas to discharge unintentionally...but if that was the case BOTH cans would have been louder on my gun. Just to be on the safe side, I got another spring from HKparts. My setup is actually a USP45 that has been retroed into a USP45T with a threaded barrel and the adj sights. It is a well seasoned USP at 10 yrs old with many rounds through it, but as per HK form it still shoots like a caddy drives.
Does ANYONE have any information or ANY similar experiences as mine? Everyting I hear from forums to db testing says there is NO WAY a blackside could be nearly as quiet, let alone quieter than an Osprey....
Anyone at all...
Thanks in advance
