How can we have a "Favorite Movie Shotgun" thread without a "Favorite Movie Rifle" thread??

"King Solomon's Mines" has the right guns at the right time, including one that will challenge the experts.

Help me out here. In The Son, a TV Series has Pierce Brosnan using a semi-automatic rifle that he uses in an ambush. The rifle is driving me crazy. I know the rifle but I can't bring up the name. .351 caliber as I recall.

A bit odd perhaps (so what's new?) but I enjoy vignettes of Revolutionary War British soldiers marching abreast with their muskets and long bayonets, then firing in unison. To stand in a line, wearing bright red, with a white X to mark the center, face to the enemy, shows a lot of cahoonies if you ask me.

My favorite rifle scene is the long shot hitting the bucket in "Quigly Down Under"....

Zulu is a fine movie as well....

What really puts me off are westerns where a bad guy misses a 30 yard shot with an aimed rifle and the good guy fires back from his saddle while galloping at an incredible range with his six shooter mortally wounding the first shooter.

Quigley's Sharps in Quigley Down Under

Rafe Covington's 1876 Winchester 45-60 in Crossfire Trail

Lee Marvin's M1 Garand in The Big Red One

Dean Martin's and John Wayne"s 1894 Wincherster Carbine in The Sons of Katie Elder

The Winchester Model 70 in "Cool Hand Luke." The prison guard with the sunglasses told Paul Newman to go behind the bushes to relieve himself but he had to keep shaking the bushes. The prison guard was Morgan Woodward.

I like the Spencer in the movie Unforgiven, and I actually like the movie in general. However, it always gets to me a little when, late in the movie, I hear that line by one of the deputies complaining about not being able to get any more 30-30 ammo. Seeing as how the movie was set in 1880 and 1881, and the 30-30 was about 14 years away from being invented yet, I’ll just bet 30-30 ammo was a little hard to come by!;) Hollywood.:scrutiny:
