How Do Pros Conceal?

cheygriz: "If absolute concealment is imperative, a shoulder rig can't be beaten."

My limited experience seems to run to the contrary. My pistol, in a shoulder rig, is pretty visible even when my sportcoat is reasonably closed. The only alternative I've found is to wear the rig under a vest which is under the sportcoat.

On the other hand, a pistol in an IWB at 4 o'clock is pretty hard to see.

You've got the years of experience. Any pointers for us newcomers?

Safe, legal, concealment is the goal. I think it's important to be polite & respectful without looking like a victim.

Some of the things that help this are a proper mindset (like being aware of your surroundings, use your strengths to your advantage, improve your weaknesses, and don't go around being a bully), and the proper use of good equipment (like the good holster/belt/outer cover combos).

Learn to keep printing to a minimum ( bending over, clothing fit, etc...). Almost no one needs to know anything about you and carrying. Your family does need to be trained in how to behave & what not to do.

I have one longtime good friend who also plays the "spot the gun" game. Otherwise it's not that hard to be effective at this concealment game.
