I have a Remington 1100 Tac -2 and about fifty rounds of Winchester ranger 2 3/4 00 buck as well as Remington express LE 00 buck. I have never owned a semi auto shotgun, is there any tried and try method to check for reliable functioning while shooting. I know fifty rounds may not tell the tell, what do you all shoot in strings of 2 or 3 our whats the best course of fire?

Just shoot it in all the positions you might normally encounter.

If it goes through 50 rounds without jamming or failing to feed, it most likely will go through many more.

Buy several boxes of birdshot such as the 4-paks (100 shells) from WalMart. Be sure to get the 1 1/8 ounce loads, either size 7.5 or 8 shot, with the 3 Dram Equivalence.

Run these 4 boxes of shells through the gun in any manner you like.... fast, slow, etc. If the gun functions without a problem with them, then likely it will work well with your 00 loads.

Keep the gun clean, properly assembled (read the Owner's Manual), and lightly lubricated with Breakfree CLP or other quality cleaner/lubricant.

Enjoy.

Buy cheap rounds like bulk pack birdshot with the steel shells. If your gun can shoot this well good buck shot loads with brass shells should be no problem. The steel based shells are the real test because they tend to stick the worst in the chamber.

dittos the cheap bulk shot as well as some hot. If you have a practicle shot gun range near you, walk the guantlet and see if it works. Also rememberto keep a remmy 1100 survival kit in your pack, the o-rings, extractor, firing pin and the small springs and pin sets. You would do well to get the Remmy 1100/870 Multi Tool, you can do a complete field repair with that tool. You can find the lits on eBay for like $35. Nice remmy BTW, watch the LE rounds as often manufacturers use over stock and 90 day surplus compnents to make them. I know remington is well known for mixing powders and older primers from stock for LE and Military rounds due to LOW Bids.

Regards,
Mike
