How do you find private sales?

Ever notice there are some people who always know someone willing to sell a gun? I'm never that guy. If I wanted to buy a gun I'd need to go to a pawn shop or gun store. How do you find individuals who are willing to sell a gun?

Depends on the location. In Virginia, firearms are listed in the local classifieds. One is called "The Trading Post".

Many state oriented forums will have buy and sell classifieds. You find what you are looking for at a price you are comfortable with and consider distance to make the deal. It would take quite a gun for me to drive the length of my state to buy a gun. It is too easy to go to a gun shop. But the seller may be within a reasonable distance.

Hang out with gun people, I am serious, it is usually insider info. If you want a good deal on a car hang out with car guys.

You can also find such sales at your local gun range. Folks talk... I got this and got that and want to sell such and such.... you want it, you make the deal as long as you are allowed to legally purchase the firearm.

Be polite and respect the persons space and start a normal civilized conversation when they look like they aren't busy and for the love of all things holy don't squeal like a demented school girl in their ear the second they stop firing.

I've seen that happen too many times with over excited newbies at the range.
It doesn't go down well at all.

Online (non-dealer) websites and forums are the best to look for. Local forums usually have people selling or trading guns at decent prices.

I still don't understand people who buy from GB...

I have not been to a flea market in many many years but I used to go just for guns. Added quite a few that way. Gun shows hit the private people up in the parking lots, etc.

In Kalifornistan it's calguns.net WTS board. In Alabama I would guess it'd be here somewhere. Being in a Free State it will be much easier for you.
