How do you resist urge to buy new piece?

Its nice and also interesting to see how many ppl have same urge :D

So far i keep it more in practical line - want Beretta M71 as "pocket gun" (i know - 22LR, but it worked for Mosad...) for situations when i dont want or cant carry my APX. But since i like new guns more and there are some other options i decided to prolonge my shooting range memebrships (why is almost same price) that way that money will not burn me in my pocket

But next time? Who knows... im usually intersted in guns what arent avalaible to test, for example Chiappa pak 9 or Scorpion vz. 61 in 22Lr

Still it will be challange - need ammo and cheapest is in shop were that Beretta sits :D So i must prolonge my shooting range first.

Yet, i must say im little bit frustrated. I have comfy job with quite a big salary, but everybody around are kinda "silver spoons", got money from parents and so - my best friend keeps crying how poor he is after what he bought new car for 25 000 USD, of course he have like 5x more on his bank account than me. Obviously need some poor friends :D

The first step to help some of us admit that "I'm a gun - oholic", is to......

Find a way to block Youtube and anything with gun videos. This can help prevent our Wallets from doing a "Lomcevak" tumble/roll.

Blocking videos didn't work out for me. Having no vacation last year easily paid for the latest rifle (a Serbian/ "Yugo").
This Serbian orphan needed a warm and loving home.

I have a monthly budget my wife gives me and I stay within the budget. I do not resist the urge I just buy it when I have the money. This is the door to one of my smallest safes. You decide what is important eat or gun...go buy a firearm, I understand than you can live without food for 3 weeks.

I always bought when everything else was paid, if I had the discretionary income at the time, so that meant a lot of overtime. Mortgage and bills came first, always. Now that I'm retired, the bills are far less, and of course I'm older, but while many my age are starting to pare down their collections, I'm still buying guns once in a while. Just won one in a raffle a few weeks ago, and getting it set up for long-range. My biggest problem is that my safe is full now, and I don't really have the room for another safe.o_O

So i made a reassonable decision not to spend money on more or less colectors gun (Beretta M71), and as any other adult i wanted to somebody pat my on my back for acting like adult...

My roommate who should want me to not swim in guns and have big financial reservers: "You should buy it!"
Shooting range keeper after i prolonged membership there and i proudly said that i spend my extra money there rather than on gun: "Ou, its such a neat little gun, you should buy it too" - then started counting reasson why its great gun...
Since pandemic im calling every saturday to my parrents and today was no exception. So while chatting i mentioned that to my pacifict, anti-gun mom. Her reaction? "Great! Buy it! We were just wondering what to get you for your birthday so we will chip in instead!"

On mondey im going to shop for ammo, so i will look at that gun, kinda doubt that my reaction will be "Ugh, thats ugly and bad, i dont want it", but i still can hope :D¨

After reading my post a feel need to say, that im not 16 yo, im actually 32 :D

What?!? Do you mean to say that you're not willing to buy a bigger, more expensive house and move so that you can buy another gun safe or two?o_O
Just kidding around Stevie-Ray.;) My wife (who likes guns, hunting and shooting as much as I do) and I are in the same situation - we've ran out of room for guns and gun safes, we don't want to buy a bigger, more expensive house at our ages, and we don't want to move anyway.
Nowadays, my wife and I try to practice not buying a gun unless we get rid of another one first. We haven't quite achieved "zero population growth" yet when it comes to guns, but we're trying.

I simply cannot imagine the pressure represented by having waited to get a license approved, and having it in hand and not filling it right away.
I suppose the only thing worse would be if there was a time certain window to fill the spot on the license.
You have my sympathy.

Its M71, unknown origin/user. It was for 310 USD (guns here are about one third more expensive than in US) and finish is quite scratched and worn, but internals are in great shape, barrel is like new. I was fighting it a lot and even in shop i was like "allright then, give it to me...", but now im kinda excited about it and glad that i got it. It really feels like great guns, waitint for paper work to test it in range - will do a small review in
appropriate forum topic

You are IN the Czech Republic, one of the few countries I would LOVE to visit, and the home of my all time favorite firearms manufacturer, CZ. Need a small pistol? CZ P-10M, which I think is currently available there. P-10S is also a really good subcompact pistol. Oh, how NOT to spend money on guns? Well, eating ramen does get old fast, and not wanting the car repossessed also helps.
Now give us some of that excellent Czech beer and food, and we'll talk trades...

My resistance is weak to a nice revolver and I've got quite a few of different makes. Now when the urge strikes I ask myself if one I already own doesn't already check the same boxes. In other words, what does it give me that a similar gun I own already doesn't. I also remind myself I should spend more time shooting the ones I already have. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much.

Well you see I look at my bank account sigh and then decide to spend the money on ammo instead. Then cry inside as I am forced to leave that shiny new baby needing a home at the shop. Then I go to the range to cheer myself up and realize how happy I am I bought the ammo instead!
