I have seen an alternate (from mine) way of storing long guns and handguns. Included are long guns muzzle down; handguns in a cradle, grip out muzzle in and angled down.

Looks good but I wonder why. Does it have to do with lubrication?

Let me know how and why you store yours... I'll probably learn something important.

I read in a gun rag one time that long guns stored muzzle down keep the oil and such out of the trigger assembly and also away from the wood.
?
Sounds good

i voted other since i hang my handguns on the door inside my safe. because the action weighs more than the muzzle, the barrels are pointed UP 45 degrees +/-

I have also heard it's possible for cleaning solvent or oils to come out of the bore and run down into the action, but that doesn't bother me, as the action is also cleaned/oiled.

also, also, I don't "store" guns. I try to regularly shoot all of my guns. If I was "storing" them for an extended time of non-use, I'd probably do something different.

I chose other.

Most of my long guns are muzzle up in gun safes. Some are hanging or in the trunk of my vehicles.

Hand guns are everywhere. Hanging on hooks in the safes and hooks around the house. Laying on either side in safes, drawers and on tables and in vehicles.

Sometimes in 50 cal ammo boxes on my tractors.

In other words I have no storage rules except if the gun is left in a padded case it better be the right padding that doesn't "draw" moisture and rust the gun.

Long guns muzzle up, except whe they fall down and I'm too lazy to set them back up

Handguns, usually on their side, although id doesn't matter much to me if they ar eon their left or right.
