How does one go about picking a lawyer for a self defense situation?

Something to keep in mind--a lot of suspects claim self defense. If they cannot deny having done the deed, that is their only alternative to pleading guilty.

On the other hand, very few defense attorneys have much if any experience in defending real, honest-to-goodness, "good guy" self defense cases.

An attorney may know and understand the black letter law, and he or she might well be able to research the relevant case law.

But that does not equate to bing able to analyze ambiguous evidence and eyewitness and earwitness testimony and take a coherent legal defense of self defense to trial.

Sadly, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and even judges muck up cases far too often,
