How many carry a plain 1911

My 1972 Combat Commander is as it comes from box except I changed grips a few years back
I did in early 90's change to better fixed sights and ambi safety on my 1941 Colt USGI but I going to return it back to stock.
I have stopped all the changing and tinkering on my autos. They are really fine from factory and other than playing they will work for SD as they come. Use the money for ammo and enjoy you pistols.

Shouldn't the question be home many carry an M1911 or clone without a captured safety pin with a round in the chamber and the hammer back?

I carry my bone stock Sistema once in a while, usually in the winter and with FMJ.

Though, most of the time I carry my CCO which did come from Colt with an extended safety, a series 80 firing pin block, a beaver tail, flared ejection port and a FLGR

Everybody was doing it prior to 1983, yet never considered it a big deal.

Principally a wheelgunner but the serious autos are 1911s--GI or SA Mil-Spec. High fixed sights and decent triggers are mandatory. Nada mas.

Less is more.

I carry a stock SA Mil-Spec with the hammer slightly bobbed.I'm thinking of breaking out my safe queen Kimber Pro-Carry STS just for the heck of it.(or maybe not)tom.

I carry 1 of 3 Norinco 1911a1 clones, usually this one, box stock other than grips and recoil spring...Target was at 15 yards...

My only "box stock" 1911 is my all original matching serial numbered slide, never refinished, carried by a friend while he was in service. Wouldn't carry it for anything! too valuable to me. But my Lightweight Enhanced Officers Model has a few items upgraded. One is the McCormick thin grips, ambi safety but not extended. just incase I have to use my left hand, God forbid I get shot in the right hand or arm during an altercation. Also had to install a high grip beavertail since I got too much hammer bite from the original grip safety.

I carry a stock Springfield (no mods) once in awhile instead of a HP. The trigger pull is hard though, I intend to have it lightened.

I rarely carry a full size (Government) 1911, though I do have a number of them in my home/RV defense rotation. I do carry this plain-Jane ORM Commander which I bought new a year or so ago, runs flawlessly and feels and shoots magnificently:

Stock stainless colt commander here. No mods except extry power mag springs. And I'm testing how well I like an arched MSH with a long trigger currently. Oh and some gunner grips,,,,

I carried my Springfield Mil Spec in essentially stock condition (Smith & Alexander magwell and Scott Sensing ebony grips) for about a year before having it customized, and have carried my Springfield GI Champion for about a year now, also nearly stock (King's front sight, Yost retro rear sight, VZ Gator Back grips). These guns have always, and still do, run trouble-free, even with... THE STOCK SPRINGFIELD EXTRACTORS!

Reckon I've been lucky.

My Colt 1991A1 is totally stock except for the grip were replaced with grips from a RIA 1911 clone of all things. It is my main HD piece though I do not carry it unless you count sticking it in my pocket or in my waistband Mexican style while outside BBQing in my yard.

I carry my springfield how it came from the factory. It is a Stainless loaded model.

I also carry a Colt Officer. It is pretty much stock with the exception of the spring and I added night sights. What can I say. That is how it came to me so I consider it stock. :)

Rough neighborhood, 'eh?? :D

Only thing I carry while BBQing is a 12 oz. :p

Yes it is rough unfortunately but it has been home to parts of my family since 1965 so I won't be leaving anytime soon and it's "my" rough area! Unfortunately 3 years ago or so not 10 doors down from where my grandmother lives, a sheriffs officer was shot and killed. No wonder a 1911 goes under my apron while firing up the grill.
