So does cmp have garands in stock, or are you guys buying these somewhere else?
No. They won't have any more M1 Garands till October.

I'm still envious of ScottsGT; to get THE 1911, where you know its history, including some "battle wear" (notice the rounded smooth edges), is, IMO, a much better deal than getting the M1 Carbine. At least to me, an actual issued GI 1911 is the "holy grail" of possible firearms purchases. NONE of the newer production ones would be anywhere near as valuable to me as that old one with the harder-to-use sights and spur trigger.
Are these m1 carbines available for everyone? do i need to join a specific club or something to get access?
Also, how old is the 1911a1 in the picture? It looks like a true relic
If you're absolutely in angst over not having a carbine.....I'll trade you for that 1911, old, obsolete, and rust-laden as it is....ScottsGT said:I'm glad you said that. I was just anguishing over the fact that the carbines are moving so fast and I won't have the funds to get one for a while, and by that time they will probably be sold out too. I guess I should be seeking professional help
The good Captain certainly took care of it. I'd choose that beautiful example of a WWII sidearm over an Inland any day. Now maybe an original WWII Rockola or IBM in that condition might make me consider it, but the scales would still be tipped pretty steeply to the side of the 1911.As far as the 1911A1, it was born in 1943, First issued to Capt. O'Dell out of the box and carried by him until he left the US Army. I got it from his son. Capt. O'Dell was an MP during WWII and stayed in Germany after the war as an MP.
Not only did I get my order in on April 30. Not only did the CMP process my order in the next few days. But I received my M1 Carbine today!
Thats what I'm saving my money for. They won't have any more M1 Garands till October
Well, they've still got the other manufacturers that they haven't put up for order yet.
Guess they severely underestimated demand.
