How much does warranty factory work effect value of a gun?

Hey guys. I've been considering selling my Taurus 444UL but what's been holding me back is that shortly after I bought it I sent it back to the factory for warranty work in which they subsequently changed the barrel on it. Because of this I just considered that it would be worth more to me to keep it than what I could possibly recoup in selling it (since I'd obviously be up front about the warranty work). So how much does this effect the value of a firearm? The biggest difference is that the barrel now no longer has the S# on the barrel since it was switched with an non serialized barrel (still has the S# on the frame).

Thanks guys

I wouldn't think it would effect it very much, if at all.
If I were paying used prices for a used gun, it wouldn't bother me if the seller informed me of a barrel swap from the factory. I'm paying a used price anyway.

If it were on a valuable antique like a 1st generation Colt SAA, then that would be a different matter altogether. Not on a current production Taurus IMO.

Warrenty work could also include recalls like the ones from Smith and Wesson and more importantly from Springfield.

I would want to know that the gun went through the mfg warrenty and got a clean bill of health before I bought it used. Just my opinion and I'm sure that it also works the other way with problem guns that have chronic problems but I would like to think that the mfg would have replaced it instead of sending it back to the owner so he can be even more disgruntled.

I really don't buy used guns unless they look as if they are still factory new and that's only old Smith and Wesson's.

Warranty work is good to go to me, unless the gun has a history of needing to go back and forth.

I think it would be worth more after the factory work than before when it still had a problem. I have sold guns that came back to me with factory work done on them and I regret every sale as the factory corrected the shoddy work or replaced the parts affected by recalls. I had a S&W 659 that I sent to an authorized S&W gunsmith for warranty repairs. The gun came back perfect. I sold it a few months later for extra cash, wish I still had that gun, it was very accurate and reliable and didn't have too many rounds down the barrel.

The fact that a gun had factory warranty work done to it would not change the value of it in my opinion.
