How much is an average going price for a 3 1/2 lb. trigger job on a 1911 pistol by a gunsmith?

My brother took his old 1911 bullseye gun to a gunsmith in his area for a trigger job and asked how much it would cost and he was quoted $250
The price was only for the labor as my brother took his own hammer, sear, disc., sear spring and a new trigger he wanted ($40 to install the new trigger). These parts except the trigger were all Colt parts from the 60's so parts are good quality.

Is that reasonable price for a trigger job?
My brother and I thought it would cost about $100-$150.

That's high. I think Clark Custom Guns is asking $125 for a 3#, and that includes a new trigger.

I paid $75

no parts required, no disassembly or reassembly.

Dropped it off and picked it up six weeks :uhoh: later.

First off: EVERY TRIGGER JOB IS DIFFERENT!!!!!
If it's no replacement parts, no surprises - $20/overnight.
The new trigger could be a wild card, might drop in, might fight you all the way, might be a total POJ and not work at all.

My question is since when is a 3# trigger job a piece of cake? Am I missing something here? 3# triggers are way touchy. Expensive equipment to set up and run a business on.

Nobody said 3 lb. trigger is easy but my brother wanted 3 1/2 lb. so it should be easier (and cheaper?) than 3 lb. :neener:

j/k
