We charge $20 and you buy the ammo, and turn it in when you're bored or broke

I just paid $2900 plus $200 tax stamp to shoot a Mac10/9, but after all, I do get to keep the gun when i'm through shooting.

Yeah I'll be up around $5,000 by the time I'm done with my M11/9 - gun, shipping, transfer, Max-11 upper, mags, optics. But like you, I get to shoot it as often as I like

In Utah, I paid $30 to rent the gun (per hour), $10 to rent the lane (per hour), and more than I'll publicly admit for the ammo
It was very fair in my opinion, considering the M16 I shot can't be bought for under $15k, and the range has to have a boatload of insurance for renting NFA items.
