This weekend I bought a bunch of old reloading gear (old-ish).

In the box is a Redding Model 14 trimmer. I know they don't make that one anymore, but when did they quit?

Also picked up these with it:

Two cans.

Five of these.

And these.

Curious if anyone can ballpark how old they are. Thanks!

Those boxes bring back many memories.
I started reloading in 1970, I was 14yrs old.
I bought many boxes of bullets, primers and powder(s) in those containers you show.
Definitely 70's. Before 1973 or so, the Hercules powders came in metal containers. Had a funky lid that you pressed down on in the center to open. Later, they went to the cardboard containers you show for the 2400.

I remember those cans. PITA to open.
Damn does that make me old?

Where'd you score those Ten? Making sure Im not missing out on some weekly "Reloading Club Estate Sales" they're having around here..:)

I just recently, and on previous occasions have purchased vintage Sierra and Speer bullets, and CCI primers from a small old LGS here. At present I'm loading 22-250 with some Sierra bullets that are from the 60's. Some of the boxes don't even have a part number on them, just a description of the bullet. The bad part, and probably the reason why the stuff is still on their shelves, is that they are selling this stuff at retail prices that are inflated way above the current market.

But those you have are indeed cool. If the powder still smells good, use it, but first check to see if anything has changed with the formulation, many have. If it has, maybe use starting data from that time frame. I've used IMR-4350 that was from the 50's, no problems.

As far as the bullets, as long as they look normal and don't have any corrosion, use them. I found a few, like 2 or 3 in the boxes I have that were badly corroded, I just ate around the bad one's.

Primers are very likely good also, and if they don't appear to have been contaminated, which might be hard to see, I would use them in a heart beat. Maybe prime a couple cases, primer only, then discharge them from a firearm, if they go boom, they're good.

Don't know anything about the trimmer.

If the Speer ammo box and CCI primer box have lot numbers, I can give you the day they rolled off the production line.

The 2400 and Hornady bullets are from the 60's-70's. The lot # is printed on the bottom of the 2400 can. My has a price tag on the top of $6.33. The old steel square cans with the top top I use to get for $3 at a local Gibson store. What I started on when I started reloading. I still have a bottle of the 2400 on the shelf from the mid 70's I finished off earlier this year. No formulation change on the 2400 that's I'm aware of. The primers are 60's vintage.

The trimmer is a mystery so far it sounds like- Im surprised, with all the wisdom here that nobody recognizes it.
