I just saw a nickled 37 for 250 and is in about 97%. They sold the 642 was interested in. This 37 has very thin front sight and has an incredible action. So what is the consensus of the forum? Are they good or what?
I have a nickeled 37 I bought new in the late eighties that I carried concealed for a short time but then turned it into a safe queen when S&W discontinued the bright nickel finish. It probably has only had 50 or so rounds through it and looks as good as the day I bought it. They aren't plus P rated but can take a moderate amount of shooting plus P's from everything I have gathered. I personally think they are a real classic as far as snubs go and if the one you are considering is in 97% condition I think $250 is a good price, I certainly wouldn't sell mine for that. As far as the pitting or peeling is concerned you should stay away from using Hoppe's No. 9 solvent as it will contribute to the deterioration of the finish if there is an area where it can get under the nickel.
