How tall is your bench?

Anyone out there know off the top of their head, how tall your bench is. I've got the wood on the carport right now and i'm about to construct but i'm not sure what height to make my bench-top.

37 inches high - I sit in a bar height chair.

It's 38" tall. I can stand and work at it w/o back issues.

You can always make 'em shorter but no matter how many times you cut, you can't make 'em longer.

Stack up a couple boards on a desk using books to see what 38" will feel like. Maybe you'll want a bit higher or shorter.

But 38" is perfect for me.

Elbow height while standing, I'm 5'6" and the bench is about 35", same as my woodworking bench. I mostly use a stool.

Originally my woodworking table, it is 41" tall, about elbow height for me at 5'11". I recently moved it to the side of the garage which has a 4" concrete ledge. So now, it is 45" tall, which seems like a good height for looking at the small pieces (versus large woodworking pieces).

I concur with those above that said they have elbow height benches.

Unless you plan on sitting, your back will thank you for a higher bench than what is usually considered"standard".

Elbow high for common work, block the press up so you can fully depress the lever without bending over. Get a swiveling, padded "bar stool" with a back for sitting.

Whatever height & system you end up with, seated or not, make sure your eyes are level with the beam scale's pointer. You will be more accurate that way, with less fatigue.

Edit: I am now experimenting by lowering the scale an inch below my eyes, so that my head does not have to be raised fully level to eyeball the pointer.

I broke my RCBS 505 knocking it off my bench, which was too low anyway. I keep my Redding I bought to replace it in the closet. Almost eye height, and much safer.

Mine is 33 inches from floor to work surface.

42", perfect for the tallest bar stools. Why so high? Because it's so easy to move around. You don't have to sit down-stand up-sit down continuously. I know that's good exercise, but if you want exercise set a time and do it. Reloading is unwind, rest, and enjoy time that is not helped with such annoyances.

The main part of my bench is 120" x 24" x 42" (LxWxH). I have a section that comes out from one end of 36" x 20" x 42" (also LxWxH) where I do nothing but brass work.

42" heighth is great for me since I am 6'1" (taller with my boots on) and I can either stand or sit in a bar stool. Very good for me as I like to stand tall and not be hunched over. Good for those nights when you just want to be left alone at the bench with the radio on.

I tried 39" one my first build, and after a few months decided it was too low. Made it 42" on the second build and am now satisfied. I wanted a height that would allow me to make the complete downward motion of the handle without bending my knees nor my back. I should state that my press is mounted at the bench height, and not on a "strong mount" nor anything similar. I stand to reload and am only about 5' - 10" tall, and old, and did I mention that I am old.

33.5", but mine might be different than most as I use a wheelchair in the house, so a lot of my stuff is designed to be at a comfortable height from a wheelchair. It would seem to be about right for a sitting position in say a regular office chair as well.
