Just purchased this 681-1 with a Wichita sight rib and I was wondering if anyone knows the correct method of adjusting the sight? It has four set screws on top and the large dial as shown in the picture. Thanks!
Among other place I suppose, I suggest you post a query in the S&W Forum.
One answer I saw there is that the set screws are for the four standard

Heck, that's neat. I'd like to see pictures of the full gun. I've never seen a sight like that. I wasn't familiar with the 681 and had to look it up. My wife has a 686 that we both enjoy.
I am only familiar with that sight as it was used by other competitors. Each of the four hex heads corresponds to a different sight setting and the dial allows you to pick which one.
I would start by searching for the Wichita sight company and see what you learn there. Those sights were aftermarket additions to the revolver for competition. My Davis built revolver used a different system, the front sight was adjustable for 3 distances.
First, as always, The rear sights are adjusted in the direction you want the bullet to go. I can't tell if there are direction arrows by the adjustment screws, but it should easy to tell by experimentation and watching the rear sight move.
