i have been to some of this"training" and alot of it sounds like it came out of a comic book some of it was just plain silly!

There's some good basic advice in there regardless of the fact that the piece doesn't focus on RKBA.

Get involved in local elections. Check
Get to know your local law enforcement officers. Check
Always be friendly and courteous when speaking to your local law enforcement officers and elected officials. Check

Make personal relationships with those in authority or who hold power so that they see you as a person instead of just some crackpot.

You might be a domestic terrorist if you: Stockpile ammunition.
Oops, I just bought 2 more cases.

Make personal relationships with those in authority or who hold power so that they see you as a person instead of just some crackpot.

This is good advice, which can be 100% undermined by making a personal relationship with someone in authority, and then acting like a crackpot.

For example, do *not*:

*Volunteer to organize the town militia...or the town watch.
*Request the town's plans for repulsing a federal takeover.
*Inquire as to how zoning ordinances are consistent with the Constitution
*Point out that the local police department's plan to deal with an active shooter by surrounding the school and wait for SWAT, and the school's coordinated plan to "lockdown" and die in place in an orderly manner is entirely inadequate and considered obsolete by up to date tacticians.

I think you get the idea.

"Get to know your local law enforcement officers."

What would be a practical approach to get involved with police? Aside from joining up.

[Psst...

... federal agents are watching this thread!
Don't post here or they'll put you on the list too...]

:p

I think there is something we all should remember is that many of those feds could just as easily be lumped in as domestic terrorists as well. They are not all zombies. How do I know?

I are one ... wait, maybe I shouldn't have said that.

I was a county Sheriff, I would put protection from terrorists pretty low on my to do list. I think there are plenty of meth heads that take priority over the rare terrorist attack.

No matter what topic the training session concerns, every DHS sponsored course I have attended over the past few years never fails to branch off into warnings about potential domestic terrorists in the community.

Like intimidating voters with clubs outside polling places ? I bet the DOJ would love to come across a case like that. Oh, wait........

As a former school teacher I have gotten to know the local and state police though my profession. It has gotten me out of a dozen tickets over the years. Knowing the police outside of their work or having a conversation with them unrelated to work has always been a plus for me.

I met so many criteria that I almost feel obligated to turn myself in.

Since when is exercising my 2nd amendment right criteria for being a domestic terrorist. They might as well have added "exercises 1st amendment right on a regular basis."

Does anybody really believe this stuff? In James Wesley Rawles very first sentence on that page of his blog he claims to have been in law enforcement for the past 18 years. Yet it seems the closest he came to Law Enforcement was as a Military Intelligence Officer from '84 to '93. He resigned his commision after Clinton was elected, he worked as an editor for a magazine, then as a technical writer for several electronics and software companies. In 2005 he became a full time blogger, freelance writer, and "survival retreat" guru, and a writer of fictional "survivalist" novels. So in what regards is he in law enforcement? His blog is designed to sell his books and nothing more.

It was also stressed to be cautious of anyone who quotes the Constitution and even worse, actually possesses a copy of this radical document.

Lawyers are domestic terrorists?

Given what we see on the Internet these days,
this DOES seem to qualify as Law Enforcement.
So does mall cop.
And Hall Monitor.
And watching Cops on TV...

:neener: :p :neener:

And watching Cops on TV...

Never liked Cops, but I have seen every episode of NYPD Blue, does that mean NYC owes me a pension? Then again I was a Sopranos watcher so I guess I'm lucky I'm not living in Marion.:what:
