Series 80 Pin
Howdy guys,
Like BigG said, depress the plunger and push the firing pin forward.
Release the plunger and the firing pin will stay forward. Removing
the stop will be easier with the pin captive. When you get the stop out
of the slide, hold your hand over the pin and depress the plunger again.
The pin and spring will pop out.
Now, pull back on the extractor a little, and the plunger will pop out, unless it's gunked up. You may have to help it a little with needle-nosed pliers.
Be careful, that tiny spring can get away from you double quick. Keep
a thumb over it to catch it if it pops. Once the plunger and spring is out, the extractor will come out.
Study the cut-out in the extractor for a minute to see how to reassemble.
The plunger won't go back in if the extractor is flush with the back of the slide. It will have to be slightly out to let the plunger get past the lip in the
cut-out. Plunger in, slip the extractor forward and use the pin stop to align it. Plunger in, replace the firing pin, and push it in past the rear of the slide and release the plunger to capture it again. Slip the stop in, push the plunger to release the firing pin. Done!
It'll get easier after a couple of tries.
