If I find a buyer for a pistol in another state can I, as a non-FFL private citizen, ship the firearm to an FFL in the buyers state to transfer the weapon to him?

*I'm not sure if General Pistol forum would be more appropriate or not but I believe the process would be the same for rifles so I put it in General Gun Discussions.

Yes you can. I sold a gun through GB and shipped it to a FFL in another state where the transfer was made. Come to think of it, it may have been Texas. If you do this, make sure you get the receiving FFL holders number and check legitimacy before shipping. You can do this online. Gunbroker may even have link. Some FFL holders will not accept shipment from a private owner and insist you go through a FFL holder in your area. If that happens, you simply add the additional cost to the price of the gun.

i've done it both ways. really depends on buyer's receiving ffl dealer. if you get a fair price, you may want to split a sending dealers fee. if you selling a handgun--you have to ship overnight with someone like fed-x. it's an expensive proposition. rifles can go through the us post office.

in any event--i always ship with a copy of the receiving ffl dealer's license inside the box.
