I just purchased a Howa M1500 Tactical chambered in .308. I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is considered long or short action. I am assuming its a short action but we all know what happens when one assumes. I am looking to upgrade to a bell and carlson medalist varmint/tactical stock but it is only available for short action Howas. This is what leads me to ask this question. Any insight is much appreciated.

you're good to go. 308 is definately a short action cartridge. by the way, good choice on the rifle.

yeah, but since it is basically a entry level wetherby, do we know if wetherby made short action/ long action differences for their budget rifles?
