My brother moved to Alaska a couple months ago and made the mistake of not taking a rifle. I was going to send one of mine up there to him but found this on the Cabelas rack and went for it. Has some light dings in the stock and a few small wear marks on the metal but otherwise is in great shape with a nice deep blue and some tiger striping.

It's an HVA Carl Gustav in 7mm Rem Mag, compensated, with a Simmons Pro 50 Plus 4-12x50 A/O VRC with ranging/BDC reticles.

I paid $375 - good deal?

Nice find and a great choice - great $. Your Bro better cough up something special at Xmas. Generally not a fan of blond wood, but that rifle looks great.

You totally overpaid. Around here those sell for 9 cents apiece NIB.

Just kidding, seems somebody always pops up on these "how did I do" threads putting down the OP no matter how good the deal was. I'm not familiar with Gustavs but that looks like a lotta rifle for $375!

I'd never heard of or seen these before, but that's pretty sweet there, I like that compensator. May want to consider buying a better quality scope, that simmons scope might start to wander a little with the kick of that 7mm, though with that comp it might not be as bad.

It would be a good buy without the scope. The wood's nice and I've never heard anything but positives about a Carl Gustov rifle!

Were it my brother? I'd NOT be sending him that Gustav...

That thought has crossed my mind, though I don't think it would go over well with my wife. First thing I said as I walked through the door was "don't be mad, it's a gift, not for me".

Would you believe me if I told you I was your long lost brother. Here's all my info so you can send me a welcoming rifle too...

:p

But seriously, that's a great gift.

Well to give you an idea how great a deal you got on that rifle; back in 1976 a Grade III Carl Gustave in 7mm. Magnum retailed for $519.95. Probably worth that much, or more, today, plus you have the muzzle comp, scope, and mounts.

Yeah, I think you did just fine.
