After reading many conflicting reports, I called HS Precision this morning to find out what their recommended torque specs are for the action bolts on a Remington 700 (I have a 700 LTR in .223).
Yepper that is right what I have been told, even after I had my VS stock bedded. 65 inch pounds is the # the hard part might be finding a torque wrench inch pounds. There are Seenock?SP ones that are pre set at that wt out there. Sears has a reasonably price inch pound torque wrench, too.
Bought the Sears. Made in USA, $65 on sale, 25-250 inch pounds in 1-inch lb. increments. Does a nice job. Now, I just need a dedicated 3/8" socket to fit the Torx head so I don't have to keep stealing from my socket set!!!
Here's Remington's reply for the Police and Sendero stocks: (FWIW)
"Thank you for visiting Remington Country. Torque settings for Sendero & Police stocks can withstand up to 45 inch pounds but we do not recommend any more than this."
