Hello all,
I recently bought a Remington 700 SPS .308, and I have a few questions about the tightening procedures for the action screws. Remington does not specify any particular tightness for the 700 action screws, although they do have a procedure for the 770 in their manual. I have heard that the action screws should be put in at about 55-65 inch-pounds, and I've even heard as low as 35 inch-pounds for factory stocks. So my question is, is it necessary to be precise and use a torque wrench on the action screws, and how much torque to put on it?
Thanks,
